When she decided to get married to Dr Shriram Nene at the peak of her career, she had set her priorities straight, and hence, distanced herself from the filmy duniya. It was on October 17, 1999, when Madhuri tied the knot with the prince of her life. The snap has been shared by Madhuri’s friend and actress, Shilpa Shirodkar on the occasion of her 52nd birthday. Coming back to Madhuri and Shriram’s magical love story, it was a match made by the former’s brother. Yes, Dr Nene was a close pal of Madhuri’s brother, Ajit Dixit. He requested her to meet this charming man for once, and it was the start of their happily-ever-after. After three months of courtship, the two decided to get married. Once in an interview, when someone asked why she got married at the peak of her career, she had stated, “Because I was in love.”
In another interview, Madhuri had talked about her life after she got married. She had stated, “Marriage changes all of us to some degree, no matter what people say. Some of the changes are common to all marriages like your schedules and time with family, etc. It’s great to have a life partner you can depend on. At the same time, you now have to look out for the family unit. In our case, the issue of her being a celebrity makes some things difficult or impossible. This is more the case in India than in the US. However, it hasn’t really changed my identity or personality.”
The 46-year-old actress had revealed an interesting detail about her marriage, and had said, “When I met Mr Nene I did not think who he was whether a celebrity or doctor.. I liked him as a person. We got along well and that was important.
