Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar is a scion of the 1500-year-old House of Mewar, a renowned Rajput clan that ruled the kingdom of Mewar, now known as Udaipur. Lakshyaraj is the only son of his father, Arvind Singh Mewar, who is married to Princess Vijayaraj of Kutch. Apart from Lakshyaraj, Arvind and Vijayaraj also have two daughters, Bhargavi Kumari Mewar and Padmaja Kumari Mewar. Talking about Lakshyaraj's personal life, he is married to Nivritti Kumari Mewar, who is the daughter of Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo.
Everyone knows that Lakshyaraj Singh is the descendant of Maharana Pratap Singh of Mewar. On the other hand, Lakshyaraj's wife, Nivritti Kumari, is the daughter of Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo. Kanak Vardhan is a renowned politician who is serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha. The politician belongs to the royal family of Patna's princely state. The royal families joined through Lakshyaraj Singh and Nivritti Kumari, who got married on January 21, 2014, in Bhubaneshwar. The couple is blessed with two children, a son and a daughter.
Talking about Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar and Nivritti Kumari Mewar's love story, the couple met for the first time two years before their wedding in 2014. The couple met at Lakshyaraj Singh's sister, Padmaja's wedding, where Nivritti was present with her parents and family. It was the first time Lakshyaraj and Nivritti saw each other, and they instantly developed a connection. It wasn't a love-at-first-sight moment for them, but their respective families nudged them.
According to a report in ETimes, Nivritti Kumari's father, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, gifted a luxury car to his then-would-be son-in-law at the engagement ceremony. An elephant from Udaipur was specially brought to their wedding venue. Bollywood celebs like Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, and many others attended the reception. There were around 4,000 guests at their wedding.
The House of Mewar broke into headlines when several names of the major members of the royal family of Mewar flashed into the headlines when, on November 25, 2024, the two factions of the clan indulged in a heated confrontation. According to a report in the Economic Times, Arvind Singh Mewar's son, Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, and Mahindra Singh Mewar's son, Vishvaraj Singh Mewar, indulged in a standoff. Arvind Singh Mewar was also present during the intense situation, and the chaotic situation reportedly occurred at City Palace's gates.

If the report is to be believed, Vishvaraj was reportedly denied entry into the palace despite being the 77th Maharana of Mewar. Vishvaraj Singh Mewar is an MLA of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who represents the Nathdwara constituency. When he wasn't allowed to enter the palace, his supporters reportedly started throwing stones and even forced their way into the royal property. The situation worsened when the people inside the palace retaliated for their safety. As per several reports, the possible reason behind this disheartening incident is the coronation of Vishvaraj Singh as the 77th Maharana of Mewar.
Not only this but in response to Vishvaraj Singh's planned visit to the palace, his father's brother, Arvind Singh, issued a public notice that intensified the family dispute. For the people wondering why Vishvaraj Singh Mewar's anointment as the 77th Maharana of Mewar has received such strong opposition from his cousin and uncle, here's something you need to know. For the uninitiated, Arvind Singh Mewar and Mahindra Singh Mewar are the sons of the late Bhagwat Singh Mewar, who was the titular ruler of Mewar. After he died in 1984, both the sons claimed to be the 76th custodian of the House of Mewar.
The dispute went on for the next three decades, and finally, a landmark decision was announced by the Additional District Judge at the Udaipur District and Sessions Court in July 2020. The court decided that the disputed property of the Roal family of Mewar would be divided into four parts among Bhagwat Singh's three children, Mahindra Singh, Arvind Singh, and Yogeshwari Kumari. Interestingly, Bhagwat Singh Mewar had willed his entire property to his younger son, Arvind Singh, due to a rift with his elder son, Mahindra Singh. Fast forward to 2024, and Bhagwat Singh Mewar's grandchildren, Vishvaraj Singh and Lakshyaraj Singh, still carry the soured bond between their families.
