Did Katrina's breakup with Ranbir, in any way, influenced her character of Babita in Zero? Answering the question which her fans have been wanting to know, Katrina Kaif said in an interview with Film Companion, "I knew that people are gonna try and connect the dots but I also knew that when they see the film they can't do that because the pitch of that character is so different. The pitch of that character is not me...That's not me. That's not my behaviour. To me the way she's (Babita) talking (in the film), to me it is outlandish as a person that I am."
Katrina's song Heer Badnaam, in the film, has influences from her breakup with Ranbir as per a TOI report earlier. The report also suggested that just like her character, in real life as well, Katrina had turned alcoholic, and it turned out to be the roughest phase in her life.

According to an entertainment portal, Ranbir is not going to watch the film! The report has suggested, "Ranbir got to know of Katrina's sequences in the film and was left highly amused. He, however, doesn't plan to watch the scene or even the film for that matter."

She commented, "It was on my mind but it didn't work out and you have to keep following the path set for you in life. I don't stress about it now. I fought that battle and am at peace with the fact that some things didn't turn out the way I had hoped for. Now, I've left it to the universe and to God because I'm sure there's a bigger hand that shapes our destiny. What's happened to me so far has been unusual and fascinating, and I can't take credit for all of it. So, whoever is responsible, will look out for me in the future too."
In a 2015 interview, talking about her relationship with Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif had revealed that he many never showcase her love openly and probably would not love her at the mandap during the marriage. The 35-year-old actress had revealed, "My greatest fear is that if and when I get married and I am standing at the altar or the mandap, he (Ranbir) may not love me completely. That he may not know his mind well enough to be making those commitments. The anticipation of heartbreak is my only fear."
In another interview later, Katrina talked about the low phases of her life and opened up, "It's a difficult subject. There is very little help for people who are suffering. There may be times when you are completely consumed by your emotions. It's not a factual situation. The emotions you feel is a response to your mind. If you have a break up in life and you don't want to meet people and also you feel as if your life is over."
