Kareena Kapoor Khan Responds To The Reports Of Being Offered Rs. 12 Crores For The Role Of 'Sita'

Popular actress, Kareena Kapoor Khan was hitting the headlines since 2021 when reports stated that she claimed a massive amount of Rs. 12 crores for playing the character of 'Sita' in the mythological period drama, Ramayana had surfaced on the internet. A section of netizens on Twitter also trolled her and mentioned that she has hurt the religious sentiments upon hiking her fees to play the role. However, she hasn't paid any heed to the trolls and was living a blissful life with her family. But, recently, she opened up about the same in an interview.

For the unversed, Kareena Kapoor Khan is a loving wife to her actor husband, Saif Ali Khan and a doting mommy for their cute munchkins, Taimur Ali Khan and Jehangir Ali Khan. She is also an avid social media user and keeps sharing adorable glimpses of her family on her social media handles.

In an interview with Zoom Tv, Kareena Kapoor Khan finally broke her silence on the reports, which claimed that she had demanded a hefty amount of Rs. 12 crores for the role of 'Sita' in the period drama, Ramayana. She dismissed all such rumours and mentioned that this is absolutely untrue as she was never offered any such role. Further, elaborating the fact that since she was never approached for such a character, people have made up stories. She even mentioned that she hasn't clarified this till now since she has a job and can't keep clarifying things to people. Sharing the same, she said:

"The reason that I never gave any explanation for that because I was never offered that film. I don't even know why I was put into that because I wasn't even the choice for the film. These all are made up stories and I don't want to put anybody down because even they need stories. Every day people are looking for some sort of stories on Instagram but I don't know from where it came. There are 100 platforms today and so many things are said, so will we do our job, or should we just put out tweets clarifying our stand?"

 

However, in Aug 2021, during her conversation with NDTV, he had nodded her head very firmly when she was asked whether she demanded Rs. 12 crores or not for a film. It was when the anchor had said, "What next for Kareena Kapoor Khan? You have a film with Aamir Khan later this year, there was talk that you were getting Rs. 12 crore, you were asking for Rs. 12 crore, and other actresses came out in support of you, but I think that was fake news." To this, Bebo had shook her head in affirmation and said:

“Yeah, yeah…”

Well, not only this, in another interview with the Guardian, Kareena had also opened up about the issue of pay disparity in the industry. She candidly mentioned that the thing is not only about demanding a hefty amount, it is also a matter of respect for the actresses. Further, adding that times are changing, she had said:

"I make it quite clear what I want and I think that respect should be given. It’s not about being demanding, it’s about being respectful towards women. And I think things are kind of changing."

On the professional front, Kareena Kapoor Khan will be next seen in the film, Laal Singh Chaddha, and will also make her OTT debut with her upcoming web series, Devotion of Suspect X.
