It was in 2017 when Karan Johar made his entry into the B-town’s daddy cool list with the arrival of his twins, Yash Johar and Roohi Johar, via surrogacy. Post becoming a single father to Yash and Roohi, Karan’s life is revolving around his little bundles of joy. Karan became an inspiration and motivated a lot of singles to embrace motherhood/fatherhood via surrogacy and enjoy the blissful life of being a single parent. The biggest support and pillar of strength in Karan’s life, who is by his side no matter what, is his mother, Hiroo Johar. To mark Yash Johar and Roohi Johar’s fourth birthday in 2021, Karan Johar had posted a video of the little ones, in which they had roasted him for his sartorial picks. Returning with the ‘Toodles’ series, Yash and Roohi called Karan’s wardrobe ‘too shiny’ and ‘yuck’. To wish the loves of his life and his fashion critics, Yash and Roohi on their 4th birthday, Karan had captioned the video as “A birthday toodles is a must! The fashion critics are back to roast me! Happy birthday to the loves of my life! #roohiandyash.”
On March 18, 2021, Hiroo Johar turned 78 and to make this day even more special, Karan Johar posted a family picture featuring himself, his mother and his twins, Yash Johar and Roohi Johar. In the picture, Karan opted for a velvet nightsuit while his mom kept it simple in a pretty yellow kurta. However, the star of this picture-perfect family portrait were his kids, Yash and Roohi, as the former twinned with his dadi in yellow and couldn’t take his eyes off the adorable hugging moment of Karan and Hiroo Johar. Roohi was dressed in a printed dress, flaunting her long tresses and looked like a diva. Karan wrote, "The power of love…" followed by a red heart atop it.
In 2019, Karan Johar was questioned on Twitter by one of his followers about his decision of being a single parent and depriving his twins, Yash Johar and Roohi Johar of a mother’s love. Giving a perfect reply to the Twitterati and lashing out at her, Karan had tweeted, "Ma’m!! With all due respect! Get a life! There are larger issues the country is combatting at the moment and it can very well do without your narrow mindedness! My babies are being LOVED and that’s all that matters...and FYI they have a mother!! My mother! Get it!" When Yash and Roohi had turned 3 in 2020, Karan had posted some frame-worthy pictures on his social media handles. Thanking the universe for completing him with Roohi and Yash, Karan had written, “I am a single parent in social status...but in actuality am definitely not....my mother so beautifully and emotionally co parents our babies with me...I could never have taken such a big decision without her solid support...the twins turn 3 today and our feeling of being blessed continues with renewed vigour with every passing year...I thank the universe for completing us with Roohi and Yash.”
In an interview with Rajeev Masand, Karan Johar had revealed how time has flown since the arrival of his twins, Roohi Johar and Yash Johar. Karan had stated, "I think it's changed me in more ways than I can actually explain. I can't believe that I have people who call me 'Dadda'...who kind of say 'Don't go' when I am leaving the room and who kind of come and just need me to hug them. I've never felt that before. I've never been in a really serious relationship. So, this kind of love, it just hits me really hard. I don't think I've been loved in that kind of pure innocent way ever. Like you know there has been love from friendships and love from parents and members of my family but I haven't seen this pure unadulterated love that is coming in bursts every day."
