The person to launch one of the A-listed actresses in the country, Alia Bhatt, Karan has time and again shared in interviews and his Instagram posts that Alia Bhatt is just like his daughter. From bidding each other ‘kiss-on-the-forehead’ goodbyes and going all huggy with each other, we always wonder if we will see Karan Johar repeating Prem Ratan Dhan Payo with his terrific swirls at Alia and (ahem) Ranbir Kapoor’s wedding! Though we can’t say that Karan had played Cupid between the Brahmastra co-stars, but we can surely vouch that it was the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director who had first made Alia speak to Ranbir. Recalling their first-ever conversation at Koffee with Karan, Alia was quoted as saying, “I remember the first time I spoke to Ranbir. You (Karan Johar) called him up when Rockstar just released and you said, 'Here, talk to Ranbir. Tell him how much you love him'. And I spoke so much rubbish. I was just talking non-stop, and he was like, 'Yeah, that's very nice, Alia'."
Very famous for taking digs at people with his wit, in the following video, you can see Alia and Ranbir on the stage, standing next to Karan Johar at Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta’s pre-wedding ceremony at St. Moritz in Switzerland. Recalling a funny incident about host Nita Ambani and soon-to-be-weds, Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta, Karan shifted the bottleneck to Alia and Ranbir. When he uttered the term ‘Rab ne bana di jodi’, the guests stationed there were hoping that Karan was talking about Akash and Shloka until he took a dig and said that he was referring to Alia and Ranbir! He also shared that, “Clearly, the wedding season is on and we are trying to be inspirational because we never know, Ranbir kabhi bhi haath se jaa sakta hain”, and all the guests gave away a hearty laugh! In a candid chat session, Ranbir asked his director-friend for some advice to be passed onto his girlfriend. In an interview with DNA, she spoke about putting a date to her wedding, “I’m too young to think about it. When I feel there’s a need to be in a stronger bond with him, we will come to it. But right now, I’m married to my work and I also have my relationship going well on the side." Further speaking about her rumoured 2020 wedding, the Raazi actress was quoted as saying, “I don’t understand the need for everyone to discuss this (my wedding) all the time. But then, I think to myself that it’s a simple question and my answer remains the same. If I’m not getting married right now, that’s what I’ll say. I’m happy being in a relationship, but that doesn’t mean I’m tying the knot just yet.”
Throwing light on how she spent her V-day, Alia had shared with The Asian Age, “I was definitely Valentining on that day. Since I’ve been promoting Gully Boy, I had a late night and woke up late on Valentine’s Day. I was flooded with messages and greetings about our film along with some Valentine’s greetings and some marriage proposals from strangers as well." Gully Boy released on the same day and everyone was under the impression that the actress must have had a busy day, but did she give time to Ranbir? The 25-year-old star had added, “There was time for Ranbir also, don’t worry.”
It is not unknown to you all how much Alia is loved by Ranbir’s family. So much so, that you will spot Alia in almost every family functions and needs. A close family friend of the Kapoors threw light on the same and shared, “She has been welcomed into the family by everyone. So it’s not just Ranbir who loves Alia. His parents, sister and the rest of the sprawling Kapoor family adore her too. Marriage is on Ranbir’s mind for sure and he will get into it happily this time.
