After a year-long break and a dip in his professional front, the comedy king Kapil Sharma is back on track with his show, The Kapil Sharma Show. It was on December 12, 2018, that Kapil walked down the aisle with long-time girlfriend, Ginni Chatrath in a big fat Punjabi wedding, which was followed by a proper Anand Karaj ceremony. Confirming his wedding with Ginni and putting rest to all the conjectures, Kapil had then stated, “The wedding is on December 12 in Jalandhar. That’s Ginni’s hometown. We wanted to keep it low key. But Ginni is the only daughter in her family. Her folks wanted the wedding to be on a lavish scale. And I completely understand their sentiments. My mother also wants the wedding to be lavish”.
Now, as we all know that Kapil is back with his show, The Kapil Sharma Show that is being telecasted on Sony Entertainment Television, the fun and laughter is all back. In a recent episode of the show, Amrita Rao and Nawazuddin Siddiqui appeared as guests to promote their film, Thackeray. It is no surprise that Kapil quite often flirts with all the actresses who come on the show and this was what he did with Amrita also. During the course of their light-hearted conversation, the Vivah actress congratulated Kapil for his marriage.
But what made everyone roll their eyes was his reply to Amrita’s wish as he termed his marriage to Ginni as a “PR stunt”. He didn’t stop here, rather went on to add in jest that he was actually shooting for a movie with her and Ginni is an actress. Amrita said, “Oh my God, inki abhi abhi shaadi hui hai”, and Kapil instantly interrupts and said, “Are wo PR stunt that”. And further went on to say, “Mere baare main badi galat galat khabre aayi thi to maine positivity felani thi bus isliye”. And he didn’t stop here and said, “Are wo larki (Ginni) actress hai”. And then, Amrita said, “Kapil ji apke vivah ke liye congratulations”. To this, he then remarked, “Bhale hi shaadi ho gayi hai but dil se main wahi hu”. Kapil Sharma on his wedding with Ginni had earlier told IANS, “My mother has been saying that I should get married for a long time. Suddenly I realised that ‘abhi age ho rahi hai’ (I am getting on in age). So, I thought what if she says ‘no’ and after one or two years, no one agrees to get married to me.” For the ones who don’t know, Kapil took to his official Twitter handle to introduce the love of his life, Ginni Chatrath. He shared a lovely picture with Ginni and captioned it as, “Will not say she is my better half. She completes me. Love u, Ginni, please welcome her. I love her so much”. Kapil chose to talk less about his wedding and revealing the reason behind the same, he had earlier remarked, “For the past few weeks, I’ve been promoting my Punjabi film. I didn’t want to talk about the wedding during the promotions, although the media repeatedly kept asking.” When Kapil was asked if he is happy now after facing downs in his life and now that things are on track both, professionally as well as personally, he gushed, “Of course I am. But more than me, the happiness that I see on my mother’s face is what makes it special.”
Revealing his love story, he had once retorted, “I have known her for 10 years since my college days in Jalandhar. I used to go to her college to do stand-up comedy. I fell in love with her first, then my mother fell in love with her and that's when I felt I should make it official. She not only completes me but is my better half”.
