Kalki Koechlin is one of the finest actors in Bollywood, who chose to follow her dreams and create a genre of her own. She has refused to enact roles, wherein a woman is just an object in the film. And while she might not be the heroine of every film or the quitessential Bollywood diva, she is ahead of most of the actresses, simply because of her acting chops. Currently, Kalki is in a happy zone as she is soon going to embrace motherhood. Recently, in an interview, the actress had shared the news of her pregnancy and since then her friends and colleagues are sending her congratulatory wishes and blessings. But it was her ex-husband, Anurag Kashyap, who had the sweetest reaction to her pregnancy.
In an interview with the Mumbai Mirror, Kalki opened up on Anurag's reaction, and shared, "He just welcomed me to the parents’ club and told me to call if I need anything. Seeing Aaliyah (Anurag’s daughter) growing up and my own brother Oriel too, I’ve already got a glimpse into this role of a lifetime." Kalki also talked about having a baby out of wedlock, and stated, "What is this term ‘out of wedlock’? It belongs in a Shakespearean drama and not in a millennial world. Marriage can be useful for bureaucracy, but it is not a sign of love. Only time and consistency tell of a strong relationship."
The actress further talked about marrying her beau, Guy Hershberg, and said, "We have considered it for the purpose of parental rights and the nationality issue. But we don’t want to rush it because of societal pressures. We will see when the time feels right. It will be a registration and a quiet family gathering."
Talking about how her beau, Guy has been supporting her, the actress had shared, "He has been helping me with breathing techniques and will be present at the birth. We are yet to plan how we will divide time after that, but we are all for sharing domestic and professional timings equally."
In an interview with Miss Malini, Kalki had revealed about the first thing she did when she got to know about her pregnancy. She had said, “I went and immediately bought another pregnancy test, just to make sure. But it was a very happy reaction. I think the last few years have been a situation where, I know I have wanted children, but either the times wasn’t right or I wasn’t with the right person. Or whatever, there was something! So all those things seemed to have come in place this time. Even though it wasn’t planned as we were thinking maybe in a year or two. But I think that’s the best thing about it. Now we are just diving right into it without too much pre-planning."
In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Kalki had talked about her baby's name, and had shared, "I’ve chosen a name that works for either gender and that is representative of a gay person, because I want my child to have that freedom of movement under the many umbrellas of gender that we have."
