And another beautiful thing is that she has fitted in so well in the family. She knows who are our good friends."
Known for not mincing her words and speaking her heart out, when Jaya Bachchan had turned 71 on April 9, 2019, her bahu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had given us a glimpse of their ‘happiness always’ on her mother-in-law’s birthday. Sharing a picture with her mother-in-law, Jaya ji and daughter Aaradhya Bachchan, Aishwarya had captioned the birthday special picture as “Happiness always.” While the saas-bahu duo had twinned in pale colour outfits, the little one had sported a beautiful red dress, and the trio was all smiles for the camera.
In an interview with People’s magazine in 2008, Jaya Bachchan was questioned for not being a forgiving person, to which, the Mili star had replied, “I agree with you. But if you reason with me, I am a very forgiving person. I am an honest person, I do not have needs in life, I can be happy anywhere. And I hope and think I have brought my children up with the right values. I keep telling my son every single day, it doesn't matter if a film does well or not. What matters is a light boy saying 30 years later, 'It was such a pleasure working with you.” When probed further if these were the values, she wanted her daughter-in-law to rub off, she was all-praises for Aishwarya and said, “Yes. That is why I wanted my son to marry a girl who has those values, who has that tradition, that culture.”
In an interview with a leading media daily, Abhishek Bachchan had thrown light on the equation between his mother, Jaya Bachchan and wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He had stated, “Ma and Ash gang up against me and they keep rattling on in Bengali. Mom knows the language because she is Bengali and Aishwarya had worked with Rituda (the late Rituparno Ghosh) in Chokher Bali, so she also can speak the language quite well. So whenever they have to team up against me, they start talking in Bengali”. After Aaradhya Bachchan’s birth, Aishwarya dedicated her time to her daughter and has always been a hands-on mother.
