On April 13, 2020, in a Facebook Live chat, Shabana Azmi had narrated a ‘delightful’ incident when her husband, Javed Akhtar was having soup but had spilt it more than drinking. Shabana ji had reprimanded him by saying, “Javed, iss tarah tum khaoge toh kitna tum giraoge?” Giving a hilarious twist to the song, Abhi Naa Jao Chhod Ke, Javed ji had continued, “Jo iss tarah se khaoge, toh kitna tum giraoge. Joh soup iss pe gir gaya, toh jaante toh hoga kya? Shaban Azmi took to her Instagram handle on Sunday to post a picture of the outdoors of her Khandala home and wrote, "At Sukoon today - our home in Khandala. It's about time Javed and I decide to make this our primary home and treat the Mumbai house like our workplace." Reacting to the post, Chef Vikas Khanna commented, "One of the most beautiful trees I have seen." Veteran actress, Soni Razdan also said, "Wow... so beautiful." Javed Akhtar's daughter, Zoya Akhtar was all hearts on the post! On recently becoming the first Indian to win the prestigious Richard Dawkins Award, Javed Akhtar had said, "I am deeply honoured to receive the Richard Dawkins Award 2020. I have admired Richard Dawkins ever since I read his first book 'The Selfish Gene'. I have since then read every book of his and ''The God Delusion'' is my absolute favourite."
Javed Akhtar's significant half, the evergreen beauty, Shabana Azmi had posted a heartfelt wish for Javed ji, on his achievement. She had taken to her Instagram handle, shared a picture of Javed ji and had written, "Congratulations Javed Akhtar for unanimously winning the prestigious Richard Dawkins Award 2020 for critical thinking and advancing humanist values -the only Indian to have won it to date. Previous recipients include Bill Maher and Christopher Hitchens. It doesn't get bigger than this."

On January 18, 2020, veteran actress, Shabana Azmi had suffered a horrible accident when a truck had hit her car on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. In a conversation with Film Companion’s Anupama Chopra, Javed Akhtar, in a joint interview with Shabana Azmi, had revealed his dreaded thoughts after seeing his wife’s crashed car. He had said, “Who could think we would have such a calamity. The accident that Shabana went through was really deadly. We were in the other car, she was sleeping in the car behind us and when this accident occurred and we went back, the first thought was ‘Is she alive?’ Because the whole car was crushed, had become a heap of junk. Somehow we took her out, she was unconscious with blood all over her face and it was only from the nose. There were no wounds but the whole body has taken such a whiplash, that it will take a little time to be totally normal."
