Hema Malini had raised a lot of eyebrows when she had decided to tie the knot with already married Dharmendra. It was in the '70s, when he had fallen head over heels in love with Hema ji. In the beginning, Hema ji had not reciprocated his feelings as she didn't wanted to be involved with a married man but she couldn't avoid his love for long and gave in.
Recently, in an interview with SpotboyE, Hema ji opened up on the life she had led. The actress talked about her married life with Dharmendra and said that she doesn't want to change anything. She stated, "I didn’t get enough time to spend with Dharamji (husband Dharmendra) since marriage. But that’s okay. Whatever time we have together is precious. And I make it a point not to crib. Yeh kyon nahin kiya, who kyon nahin kiya…Why are you late?...I don’t squander my time with my loved ones complaining." Earlier, in an interview with the Deccan Chronicle, Hema ji had talked about her decision of marrying Dharmendra. She had shared that she never wanted to hurt anyone because of her love, not even his first wife, and hence, she has never intruded in their life. The Dream Girl had stated that she never had taken Dharmendra away from his first wife and children.
She was quoted as saying, "The minute I saw Dharam ji, I knew he was the man for me. I wanted to spend my life with him. I also wanted to make sure that the marriage hurt nobody. His first wife and children have never felt my intrusion in their lives. I married him, but I never took him away from his first family."
