Aamir Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra starrer Dangal gave us a glimpse of the struggles of Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari Phogat’s lives and how their career was moulded under the supervision of their father, Mahavir Singh Phogat. But it is through their social media handles that we get an inside sneak peek into the personal lives of the Phogat family. Geeta and Babita are quite active on social media and keep on sharing pictures from their family life.
The Phogat family is on cloud nine these days as Babita Kumari Phogat tied the knot with her fellow wrestler, Vivek Suhag and Geeta Phogat is all set to embrace parenthood for the first time with her husband, Pawan Kumar Saroha. On December 2, 2019, the Phogat and Suhag families had hosted a wedding reception bash for the newly-wedded couple, Babita and Vivek. But the function became extra special for Geeta and Pawan as their friends and her sisters organised a surprise baby shower for the soon-to-be parents.
The makeup artist for the Phogat sisters, Neetu Antil took to her social media handle and gave us a glimpse of the surprise baby shower for Geeta Phogat. The mommy-to-be, Geeta looked graceful as ever in a mustard-coloured gown which she had accentuated with a red dupatta. The to-be mommy was crowned with a tiara and a sash. It was in September 2019, when Geeta Phogat and Pawan Kumar Saroha had announced on social media that they are expecting their first child. Geeta had taken to her Instagram to announce that she and her hubby, Pawan are all set to embrace parenthood. Posting a picture of herself, flaunting her baby bump amidst a picturesque background, Geeta had written, ““A mother's joy begins when new life is stirring inside… when a tiny heartbeat is heard for the very first time, and a playful kick reminds that little one is never alone.” You never understand life until it grows inside of you #pregnancy #babybump #motherhoodrising.” Pawan had commented on Geeta’s post, “my girl” followed by a kiss and a pregnant woman’s emoji. Soon Geeta Phogat’s pregnancy announcement post got flooded with congratulatory messages. Geeta’s Khatron Ke Khiladi 8 co-contestant, Hina Khan had written, “Congratulations Geet to you and Pawan... God bless you my darling… so so so happy for you... Aum Ganeshaya Namaha!!” and Nia Sharma had commented, “Oh man @geetaphogat” followed by heart emoticons. Shibani Dandekar too, had written, “Ahhhhh this is incredible!! congrats”. Lopamudra Raut had commented, “Congrats Geeto!! Lots of love”. Shantanu Maheshwari had written, “Wow... hearty congratulations to @pawankumar_saroha86 and @geetaphogat di... So happy for you.”
Coming back to Babita Phogat and Vivek Suhag’s marriage, it was her elated sister, Geeta Phogat among the first ones to share the wedding pictures. Wishing her sister an eternity of happiness, Geeta had written, “My lovely sister @babitaphogatofficial Congratulations on your marriage. I hope that all of your dreams come true as you begin this new journey. Many many congratulations to both of you @suhagvivek @babitaphogatofficial.” For the wedding, Babita had looked mesmerising in an all-red lehenga choli and her look was accentuated with a choker neckpiece, heavy maang teeka and bangles. Babita had looked flawless in minimal makeup. Geeta too, had opted for a Sabyasachi green lehenga which she had paired with a yellow dupatta.
