The role of a father is an essential component in every child's foundation. Most fathers are busy with work and miss out on special moments of their kid's life, but the memories spent together are cherished by both throughout life. Esha Deol too, cherishes every moment spent with her father, Dharmendra and often expresses her love for him on her social media handle. Dharmendra and Hema Malini had embraced parenthood with the arrival of Esha on November 2, 1981.

Esha Deol had made her Bollywood debut in 2002 with the film, Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe, but her father, Dharmendra was against her decision of becoming an actress. But eventually, he agreed and Esha became one of the sought-after actresses of Bollywood. Like her mother, Hema Malini, Esha is also a trained Odissi dancer.
In a Father's Day special interview with ETimes, Esha Deol recalled a heart-warming incident from childhood, involving her dad, Dharmendra. Esha said, "There is one memory that is absolutely hilarious. I still remember it because I was around the age where I could remember things. We were all on a vacation abroad and my mom had gone out shopping a little early in the morning. I woke up with only papa in the room and started crying looking for Mumma."
Recalling how Dharmendra fulfilled the daddy duties while Hema Malini was at work and dressed her up at nine in the morning, Esha Deol continued, "He consoled me saying he was there and that he will do everything for me. He bathed me, combed my hair, made me wear a party frock, put kajal in my eyes, and gave me an oily hairstyle. My mom walked in to find me all dressed up at nine in the morning. That was really cute."

Revealing how Dharmendra is to his grandchildren, Radhya Takhtani and Miraya Takhtani, Esha Deol remarked, "He is a wonderful grandfather. He loves to spend time with our children. He turns into a kid himself when he plays with them. My kids also love their nanu a lot. They spend a lot of time playing and dancing with him. I think he sees my childhood in my daughters. He is reliving them through my kids. I think it is beautiful!"
Raised by a working mother, Hema Malini and in a home with women around, Esha Deol has instilled a strong sense of independence and gender equality comes to her naturally. Now that Esha is a mother of two beautiful angels, Radhya Takhtani and Miraya Takhtani, she wants to instil the three important qualities i.e., self-respect, dignity and grace, in her daughters too.
On Dharmendra's 85th birthday on December 8, 2020, Esha Deol had posted a twinning in white picture with him. In the picture, Esha had held Dharmendra's hand as they smiled for the candid click. Esha had captioned the post as ""Holding on to this hand for eternity" Love you papa. Happy Birthday Wish you happiness & the best of health always."

On the work front, Dharmendra had announced his next project, a sequel to Apne sometime ago.
