It’s the D-day for Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh for they would soon be pronounced husband and wife in a few hours. On October 21, 2018, the two confirmed their wedding by releasing a statement which could be read as, “With the blessings of our families, it gives us immense joy in sharing that our wedding is set to take place on the 14th and 15th November 2018. Now, just like Parneeti Chopra who is excited about her sister, Priyanka Chopra’s December 02 wedding, even Deepika Padukone’s younger sibling, Anisha Padukone can’t control her excitement. And guess what? Instead of Deepika herself, it’s Anisha who has changed her name on social media to #Ladkiwale. Take a look:
Well, it seems that we have to settle for little things like these, for DeepVeer’s wedding and its functions is undergoing under strict secrecy. The equation that Deepika and Anisha share with each other will remind you of your own sibling. Recently, Deepika posted a funny meme depicting Anisha’s gesture after the former comes back home and captioned it, “after a hard day at work, this is what my little sister sends me!!! love you AP! @anishapadukone.” And Anisha didn’t spare her elder sister, and commented, “True story! Don’t be fooled by all that grace and poise.”
Sharing how her equation with Deepika is, Anisha once revealed, “We have a five-year age gap, so she is both like a friend and a mother to me. She is very protective of me, like a typical big sister. Though we are close, we only get to meet once every two-three months because of our schedules and how much we travel. Though we don't discuss our work much, I'm a big critic when it comes to her films. I watch all of them and from her initial days, I would tell her what I liked and what I didn't. I would tell her, 'You could have done this much better' or 'I didn't really like that at all'. Of course, all this is from the point of view of an audience member, since I'm no expert on acting or cinema. And talking about her family and her sister, Anisha, Deepika once shared with the Indian Express, “We made our own career choices because our parents gave us wings to fly. They did not burden us with their expectations. That’s what my grandparents did with my parents. My parents have given us a normal and disciplined childhood without much luxury, like any other middle-class family. My sister and I are different from each other. My parents could see that and encouraged it. I was inclined to the creative world. My sister, on other hand, is extremely calm and intelligent. She has become her own beautiful person today. A large part of my success is because my parents have been so supportive.”
Recently, Anisha also opened up about her elder sister, Deepika’s depression phase and retorted, “Honestly, it was difficult for me as I had very little idea about mental illness and the role of a caregiver. Coping with mental illness affects both the individuals and members of their immediate family. There was not much information available where I could learn and equip myself to be of help. There were times when I felt helpless. Fortunately for us, my mother noticed something was wrong. We then approached a counsellor who is also a very close family friend and things worked out.”
Coming back to Deepika and Ranveer, the two would be each other’s forever after their wedding rituals today and tomorrow. A source told a leading daily earlier, “Since Deepika is a South Indian and Ranveer is of Sindhi-Punjabi origin, the two families decided to follow customs practised by both communities. A South Indian wedding has been planned for November 14, complete with Kannadiga rituals.
