Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh

On May 16, 2020, Deepika Padukone took to her Instagram handle and shared a throwback family picture. In the picture, a 13-year-old Deepika was seen sitting with her parents, Prakash and Ujjala Padukone and sister, Anisha Padukone. But what caught our eyes was the presence of actor, Aamir Khan in their family album. Aamir, who had worn a white shirt and black pant was seen sitting next to Deepika as they posed for the camera. Along with the picture, Deepika wrote, “Major throwback to 1st January, 2000. I was 13 & awkward. I still am. He was having lunch. Curd Rice to be precise. I was hungry, like I always am. But he didn’t offer and I didn’t ask.”

Deepika will be seen in Kabir Khan’s film, 83 based on the life of Kapil Dev. This is her first film with hubby, Ranveer Singh post-marriage, where Ranveer will play the role of Kapil Dev and she will be playing his wife, Romi Dev. The movie is not just about Kapil’s cricketing career but also how his wife, Romi Bhatia played an important role in his life. Commenting on the same and juxtaposing it with her family and mother, Deepika Padukone in an interview with Filmfare had stated, "Yes, I have seen it from close quarters because of my parents. A support system that a wife or family is to an athlete often goes unnoticed. It was important for me to be a part of this film to highlight the personal journey athletes go through when they are playing and performing at such a high level. The focus is usually on the professional achievements, and we tend to ignore their personal and humane aspects, and the sacrifices an athlete and his/her family have to make to support one person’s dreams and ambitions." (Also Read: Vicky Kaushal's Brother, Sunny Kaushal Wishes Him Birthday In Old School Style, Says Kuch Nahi Badla)

The 33-year-old actress further added, "I have seen that with my mother (Ujjala Padukone). I don’t think my father could have been half the champion that he was if it wasn’t for my mom. She, along with my grandparents and his siblings, have played an integral role in his success. In fact, I always have the utmost respect for homemakers, as their job is the most selfless. To be the backbone of the family, while others step out to nurture their ambitions, and to be that person who puts others’ needs before their own, is a very selfless thing to do. It was important for me to tell this story to the audience."
