Over a period of time, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s camaraderie have become quite synonymous to the term ‘relationship goals’ in itself. And why wouldn’t they? November 14-15, 2018, was the iconic day when Deepika, the Deewani, Bhavnanis ki ho gayi! From her ‘Sada Saubhagyavati Bhava’ chunri, wedding chooda, wedding basis Sindhi and Konkani rituals, fun-filled post-wedding games, as much as three wedding receptions to their social media PDA, like we said, Deepika and Ranveer are sheer goals! The couple had immediately divulged back to work as soon they returned from their wedding, which only kept us wondering as to when will Deepika and Ranveer head out for their honeymoon. Answering our queries, shutterbugs spotted the couple twinning in black and walking hand-in-hand, heading off for their Christmas, New Year 2019 holiday-cum-honeymoon. Apparently, the celebrity couple had also flown off to Sri Lanka for the same and the best part was their holidays also clashed with Deepika’s first birthday after marriage (January 05, 2019), which also meant some ‘special’ gifts from the newbie hubby and Ranveer apparently didn’t disappoint us!
Shutterbugs left no stone unturned to grab a glimpse of their favourite ‘baba’ and ‘bhabhi ji, Ranveer Singh and Deepika who looked stunning in their casual best. Deepika sported a black tank top, which she teamed with loose and comfy black pants, and her hubby looked dapper in a white t-shirt, denim jacket, and bandana over his head and night glasses. But what was adorable was the way Deepika flaunted (apparently) her hubby’s gift! Bollywood’s Padmaavati was spotted sporting Alauddin Khilji’s (a character portrayed by Ranveer in the film Padmaavat) sword as a pendant around her neck, which possibly is a birthday gift from her mister! Probably the gift was given by Ranveer to ward off any evils that would befall his beloved! Such a doting hubby, isn’t he? In an interview during the promotions of their film, Padmaavat, Deepika had quite some interesting observations about the character of Khilji played by her now hubby and then boyfriend, Ranveer. She was then quoted as saying, “The first time I watched him onscreen since we never had any scenes together. I cannot think of any actor who would have done this role and brought in the kind of intensity he did with Khilji. It was an author-backed part, but he made Khilji his own. He gave justice to the menacing part of Khilji. Audiences had to hate him to love his work. Actors are usually scared of doing negative roles for the fear of being typecast.”
She had further added, “But today the audiences have evolved. They are more aware. They hated Khilji’s character but loved Ranveer in it.” And when asked if she is critical of Ranveer Singh’s performances, Deepika quipped, “I am very protective about Ranveer. When the world gushes on him, I am honest with my feedback of him.”
Deepika had always shared the struggles and pros of living alone. Speaking about having a permanent roommate now for life, the newbie missus was quoted as saying to Filmfare, “It’s beautiful living together. I’m sure cynics will say you’ve just gotten married to him, wait for 15 years or 25 years. We’ll figure it out then. For now, it’s the best feeling in the world. I looked forward to living together because I moved out of home at a young age to start working. A lot of my friends used to say we can’t wait to get out of our house. I was the opposite. I got out young. I craved for my family. When we were dating, it was about spending time with his family or going to Bangalore to be with my parents. I’d crave that quality time where you wake up in the morning and have someone to talk to while you’re having breakfast. For the last 15 years, I was alone.”
Do you know, it was Ranveer who had left the date and choice of marriage with Deepika. In yet another interaction with Filmfare, the Simmba star shared in December 2018, “Whatever she wished, I wanted her to have it. That’s the first step in being the husband of the millennium. Whatever her vision of getting married, I wanted her to realise it. Whatever she wanted, it was done exactly in that manner. She deserves every bit of it. I too deserve happiness and my happiness comes from her happiness. It’s that simple.” He had also added, “I believe when the feeling is right, it’s the right time. I’ve been feeling it’s right for a long time. This could have happened three years back as well. Now that she’s also feeling right about it, it’s perhaps the right time now.
