Both professionally and personally, 2016 has been a very good year for a lot of celebrities, especially our cricketers. While some got hitched, others embraced parenthood! After Irfan Pathan, here is another Indian cricketer who embraced parenthood.

We are talking about 30-year old Indian cricketer, Ravichandran Ashwin. R. Ashwin, who got married to his ladylove, Prithi Narayanan in 2011, embraced fatherhood for the second time.
In June 2015, Prithi gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Akhira. This time also, the lovely couple has been blessed with a baby girl. Little Akhira has a baby sister now to play with.
Their little angel was born on December 21, but Prithi intentionally hid the news of the baby’s arrival for good four days. It was only on December 26 that she announced the arrival of their second child. Here is what she tweeted:
“I delivered carrom baby #2 on the 21st. She waited out a State-wide shut down thanks to the cyclone AND 5 days of Test cricket at Chepauk.”

To explain why she decided to hide the happy news from media and fans, she further tweeted:
“She arrived the next day. We didn’t want to steal Appas ‘Cricketer of the Year’ moment, so telling you guys now.”
Last week only, Ashwin won ICC Cricketer Of The Year for exceptionally good performance in test series against England and New Zealand. Prithi did not want to steal the limelight from Ashwin’s success and hence she decided to disclose the news a few days later.
She also explained her condition right before the delivery. She said:
“I thought my water would break when we won that game and I was going to have the baby at Chepauk. Now, THAT would have been some story.”

She ended her series of tweets with a rather cute yet funny tweet. Here is what she said about her baby:
“#Pavilionterracebaby So yes, baby girl it is.Santa was kind at the end of a rough and emotionally draining 2016. Also RIP sleep in 2017.”
Happy father Ashwin also tweeted something. Take a look:
“One small request, please do not tag my wife in all your funny tweets. She has better things to look after, although I am over it.”
He later clarified that by ‘better things’ he meant the arrival of their second baby!
