A love story that stood against all odds and had attained its destination was of the legendary actress, late Sridevi and producer, Boney Kapoor. The sudden demise of Sridevi had shocked the whole nation. Since then, her family members including her husband, Boney Kapoor and their daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor leave no chance to celebrate her memories. One quick glance at their social media handles tells us that they're filled with Sridevi's memorable moments.
Boney Kapoor, aged 65, is going to make his acting debut with Luv Ranjan's upcoming film. The producer talked about the same and revealed that he was offered to play the love interest of his late wife, Sridevi in Lamhe, in an interview with SpotboyE. Scroll down to know it all!
Talking about his acting debut with Luv Ranjan's film, Boney Kapoor said, “This happened because Luv insisted. He deputed my children to coax me, and you know I can’t say no to my daughters and son.” He then talked about his desire to try his hands in direction and said, "I want to direct a film. I’ve been producing films from the age of 25. That’s when I produced my first film Hum Paanch. I think it’s time I directed a film. It will happen sooner rather than later. In these uncertain times it’s better to do what you want to do rather than to push it to later.”
Boney Kapoor then went on to talk about his debut film, in which Ranbir Kapoor is going to play the role of his son. He said, “Ranbir who plays my son, has virtually grown up in front of me. He’s so talented. But I’m not nervous about facing the camera. Maybe the nervousness will come later. Dimple Kapadia, who plays Ranbir’s mother, is someone I’ve known from even before the time she signed Raj Kapoor’s Bobby.”
Boney Kapoor then revealed that this is not the first film that he was offered. Sharing an interesting anecdote about the same, the producer said, “Many years ago Mr Yash Chopra had offered me Lamhe, the role of Sridevi’s love interest that was played by Deepak Malhotra. I don’t know how serious the offer was. I was tempted to do it so I could be close to her. In fact, when Lamhe was being shot in Switzerland, I had flown down to meet her under some work-related pretext.”
Coming back to Sridevi and Boney Kapoor's unconventional love story, Boney Kapoor was already married to Mona Shourie Kapoor when he had fallen in love with Sridevi and was a proud father of two kids, Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor. Boney had done everything in power to impress Sridevi. When vanity vans and personal assistants were unheard of, Boney had arranged an exclusive van for Sridevi. Finally, in 1996, Boney and Sridevi had tied the knot.
At the India Today Woman Summit 2013, Boney Kapoor had opened up about the time when he had confessed his love for Sridevi to his first wife, Mona Shourie Kapoor. Boney had said, “In fact, I had confessed to my ex-wife that I’m in love with her. I couldn’t hold myself back.” In a throwback interview with the Filmfare, Boney had talked about his obsession with Sridevi and was quoted as saying, “Basically, Sri’s an introvert. Her job done, she’d keep to herself. But what impressed me was her innocence. She was not corrupted by artifice. Mere dil ko woh gherti chali gayee. My obsession for her only grew each time I met her. She was so simple despite being a superstar.”
