Aryan Khan's Bail Hearing: Mumbai Court Rejects The Bail Application Of Shah Rukh Khan's Son

On the night of October 2, 2021, breaking news claiming that a superstar's son has been arrested by the NCB in a drug raid had started doing the rounds. Within an hour, it was clear that the Narcotics Control Bureau had arrested Shah Rukh Khan's son, Aryan, from the Mumbai cruise ship, where he was with his friends. While with every hearing, there were hopes that he would be out soon, in the court hearing on October 8, 2021, Aryan was sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

On October 11, 2021, Aryan Khan's bail plea was supposed to be addressed. However, it was postponed to Wednesday, i.e., October 13, 2021. Aryan's lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, had confirmed the same, stating that his bail plea would be heard in the Mumbai Sessions Court on Wednesday. He had also added that lawyer, Amit Desai, representing Aryan Khan, had asked to schedule his bail hearing for Wednesday.

On October 20, 2021, a special court announced their verdict of Shah Rukh Khan's son, Aryan Khan's bail application. They rejected it along with the other two applications of Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha. Currently, Aryan is lodged in Arthur Road prison in Mumbai, after the NCB arrested him.

Shah Rukh Khan's fans and the Bollywood fraternity have come out in support of his family. According to reports, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had opposed Aryan Khan's bail plea by filling a remand extension plea in court. In a reaction to NCB's request, Aryan's lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, had stated that his client (Aryan) was invited to the cruise party by a person connected to the film industry, just to add 'glamour'. Satish had also added that Aryan had entered the party as a 'VVIP' guest. He had stated, "A person connected with Bollywood wanted to add glamour to the cruise and hence invited him."

Satish Maneshinde had also added that his client, Aryan Khan holds no connection, bond, or even knowledge about the organisers of the cruise party. He had explained in his statement, "I (Aryan) am nowhere connected with any other person in cruise, or other arrested accused. I have no connection with the organisers or the other arrested accused."

Aryan Khan's lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, had accepted that his client knew Arbaaz Merchant and had mentioned that detaining his client just to see a person is utterly unconvincing. Satish had said, "He (Merchant) is my friend, I'm not denying that. But mere knowledge of a person is not enough to keep me in custody."

Talking about the other side of the story, NCB, in their statement to the court, had stated that they want to exceed Aryan Khan's custody to confront him with another accused, Archit Kumar, after they got access to their WhatsApp chats. Reacting to it, Aryan's lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, had said that the chats on the basis of which NCB wants the court to deny his client's bail are nothing but discussions about playing football. He had said, "Achit and I (Aryan) have discussed football about a year back." And Satish had added, "football doesn't contain any drugs."
