Ending a perfect marriage is not an easy decision to take especially when you have a child to look after. But when a couple has fallen out of love, the best decision is to part ways rather than staying together and making the marriage more toxic for one another and your child. The same decision was taken by actor, Arbaaz Khan and his wife, Malaika Arora when they had decided to end their 20 years of marriage and move on in their respective lives. It was not an easy decision, but the ex-couple had taken the difficult decision for the happiness of all. The duo has moved on in their lives as Malaika is dating Arjun Kapoor and Arbaaz is dating Giorgia Andriani.
Despite ending their long marriage and moving on in their lives, Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan remain cordial and have been spotted quite a few times for casual dinners with family members and celebrating festivals together. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Arbaaz revealed the reason behind his divorce with Malaika and also talked about how their son, Arhaan Khan had dealt with the same. Talking about why he felt that divorce was the only solution, Arbaaz stated that when a couple has a child, divorce is very difficult but a necessary step. Arbaaz and Malaika’s relationship had come to a point where the divorce was the only way to go about to make their equation as okay as possible.
Arbaaz Khan further talked about sharing the news of his divorce with Malaika Arora with their son, Arhaan Khan and how he had dealt with it. Arbaaz revealed that their son, Arhaan was 12 years old when they had shared the news of their separation with him. In an interaction with Kareena Kapoor Khan on her show, What Women Want, Malaika had revealed that divorce has made her and Arbaaz Khan a better person. She was quoted as saying, “We did think about a lot of things and weighed every single pro and con. And then we decided, it’s better off that we move our separate ways because we’d just be better people. Because we were two people in a situation making each other extremely unhappy which was impacting everybody else’s life around us.”
On the same show, Malaika Arora had revealed how her son, Arhaan had reacted on his parents’ divorce. Malaika had said that with time he has become far more accepting and flourishing. And he can also see the difference in his parents how happy they both look now. Malaika had also recalled how her son, Arhaan had told her once that "Mom, you look happy", a few months after their divorce.
Earlier, in an interview with Pinkvilla, Arbaaz Khan had shared his thoughts on commitment and had said, "I feel there is a time and an age for sowing your wild oats. I had that phase before I was 26 when I met Malaika. Before that, I was playing the field. I was not in committed relationships, I had a number of girlfriends. When I met Malaika, I felt the need to get married and after four years of dating, we got married when I was 30. I really don’t know whether I have it in me at this point to go through the entire scenario of commitment and giving it everything. The mindset right now, is that if somebody comes in my life, I will see it then…. Maybe even let it go on the way it is, rather than making any promises or commitments."
