And amongst them is our favourite Bollywood-Cricket couple, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli. Anushka and Virat had ‘promised each other to be bound in love forever’ on December 11, 2017, after all the speculations. The couple is all set to take their relationship to the next level and step into the best phase of marriage, i.e., parenthood. Announcing the news of Anushka’s pregnancy, the couple had shared the first picture of parents-to-be where the actress had flaunted her cute baby bump. Revealing that junior Sharma-Kohli will arrive in 2021, Anushka and Virat had captioned it as “And then, we were three! Arriving Jan 2021.”
As IPL 2020 is all set to begin in September 2020, Indian cricketers are currently stationed in Dubai for their practice sessions. Amidst the practice sessions, Royal Challengers Bangalore team hosted a small celebration for soon to be parents, Virat and Anushka, and rokafied, Yuzvendra Chahal. Wondering how Anushka and Virat had kept their pregnancy a secret, a source close to The Times of India had shared how lockdown and distancing herself from her entourage of 5-6 people and staff helped Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli in keeping the pregnancy a secret. The statement of the source could be read as “Anushka has always been a very private person. She takes her personal space very seriously. So, she was extremely careful about not letting anyone see her or get any information about her pregnancy.” Virat and Anushka had laughed off the reports as mere speculation when some of their friends had tried to be nosey. The source had continued, “They simply laughed it off as mere speculation and didn’t really want to add any fuel to the fire. In 2019, when Anushka Sharma was snapped outside a clinic, dressed in a black top and white and black striped pants, it had created a stir in the media, giving rise to the speculations about her pregnancy. In an interaction with Filmfare, Anushka had rubbished it back then and had said that this is because people are constantly trying to make something out of nothing. Anushka had stated, “Yeah. If you're married then people ask, Is she pregnant? They love to read into something when there really isn't anything.”
Speaking about the stereotype that exists amongst people to assume that when an actress gets married she’ll be pregnant, Anushka Sharma had continued, “An actress gets married and the next thing they talk about it is, Is she pregnant? When she’s dating it’s like, Shaadi karne wale hai ki nahi? It’s crude. You should allow people to live their life. What’s the need to jump the gun? Then put someone in a position where they end up clarifying unnecessarily. What irks me is the clarification part. Do I need to clarify? Nahi! But then that’s how it is. Any actress, who gets married... sabke baare mein they’ve said something. Someone could be wearing clothes that are loose. That’s because they’re trendy. But they’re said to be pregnant.
