For Anushka, her love story with Virat Kohli, the captain of the Indian cricket team, had begun on the sets of an advertisement shoot and soon it transitioned from co-workers/acquaintances to lovers/soulmates.
On September 12, 2019, the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi got renamed to Arun Jaitley Stadium in the memory of the politician-cum-sports administrator. In addition, a new pavilion stand was also unveiled in the name of Virat Kohli, India's most successful captain. According to a Times Of India report, DDCA president, Rajat Sharma recalled how Arun Jaitley had once praised Virat for he went to play a match for India even after his father’s death. Arun Jaitley had predicted that one day, Virat would become a big name in the cricket world. Upon hearing this, Anushka and Virat tried to hold back their tears reminiscing his late father and she gave him a peck on his palm.
For the event, Anushka Sharma looked ethereal in a peacock blue silk suit with a zari embroidered dupatta and complemented her look with chandbaalis and her hair tied in a neat bun. Virat Kohli kept it formal in a monochrome suit which he paired with a grey-coloured bandhgala jacket. Sharing pictures from the event, Virat wrote on his Instagram, “Thank you @ddcacricketofficial and @indiancricketteam for bestowing this honour upon me. The pavilion will remind me of my journey in life and in cricket but most importantly I hope it will serve as an inspiration for the next generation of young cricketers of our nation.”
For quite some time now, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma had been on a work-cum-leisure trip to West Indies where the captain of Indian cricket team had played a tournament and post his matches, the lovebirds used to hang out with each other. Anushka and Virat have been treating their fans with the glimpses for their beach time and it had left us swooning over their sizzling chemistry. On June 12, 2018, Virat Kohli was awarded the Polly Umrigar Award (Best International Cricketer) at the annual BCCI Awards in Bengaluru. For the event, his wife, Anushka Sharma had looked ravishing in a black outfit with ruffled collar and to accentuate her look, she had opted for wavy hair and nude make-up. And Virat had kept it classy with a formal black suit. After receiving the award, Virat had given his winning speech on-stage and had said that it became more special since it had been given to him in the presence of his wife. Virat had remarked, “My wife’s here today, so it’s more special. The Awards didn’t happen last year, but I am glad they didn’t, as she is here today.”

In an interaction with a celebrated American television sports reporter, Graham Bensinger, the captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli had revealed details about his ‘awkward’ first meeting with his now-wife, Anushka Sharma. Elaborating the cloud of nervousness that was prevalent and a joke that he had cracked, which hadn't gone down well with Anushka, Virat had said, “She is tall and she was wearing heels (makes a gesture which isn’t too much) and she was being told that I am not that tall, I am not 6 feet plus or something… she walked in with heels and was looking taller than me and I was like didn’t you get a higher pair of heels. Then she was like ‘excuse me’ and then I was like ‘no, I am just joking’.”
Virat Kohli also added that he and his now-wife, Anushka Sharma belong to similar backgrounds and it was the year 2013, that they had first met. Virat also opened up about their first few dates and the transition from co-workers/acquaintances to lovers. He had revealed, “I don’t even remember when we thought ‘okay this is the time when the transition is happening’, it was so organic and natural. And it kept getting stronger and stronger. We knew that we just wanted to be with each other.” Isn’t it amazing?

In an interview with Filmfare, Anushka Sharma was all-praises for her hubby, Virat Kohli and had talked about him as a person. She had shared, “His honesty is something I deeply value. I’m an honest person and have suffered on account of that. He’s brutally honest too. I’m so happy that I met someone like him because we both lead our lives with complete honesty. It’s so transparent and clean. I have a life partner with whom nothing is pretentious. Everything is real. Also, the fact that we both support each other. He’s someone, who’s constantly trying to get better professionally and as an individual. I’m also like that. We don’t take ourselves so seriously. We’re similar as people.
