It was on June 14, 2020, when Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence and since then, his friends, colleagues and fans have been hinting at a foul play and calling it a 'planned murder' instead of suicide. More than a month later, Sushant's family had filed an FIR against his girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty and with each passing day, new theories and speculations related to his demise have been emerging in the media. Sushant Singh Rajput had begun his acting journey with Pavitra Rishta in 2009 and was dating his co-star from the show, Ankita Lokhande for a few years before making it big in Bollywood. Ankita was devastated with news of Sushant's demise and when she had broken her silence on the issue, she had revealed that she doesn't think her former beau was 'depressed or bipolar' and it's unfair for everyone to pass judgements without knowing the story.
Sushant Singh Rajput's friends and fans have been probing the government to initiate CBI investigation on the case for the truth to come out as soon as possible. The Bihar government had requested for CBI enquiry and on August 5, 2020, the hearing for the case was scheduled at the Supreme Court. As a good news for Sushant's fans, SC has accepted the plea and the Centre’s senior second-most law officer Tushar Mehta informed, “Union of India has in principle accepted the request by Bihar to have a CBI probe. Notification regarding the same will be issued by end of day today." Expressing gratitude for the same, Ankita Lokhande wrote on her IG feed, "The moment we've waited for has finally arrived" and captioned it with "Gratitude".
In an interview with Arnab Goswami for Republic TV, Ankita Lokhande had revealed that Sushant Singh Rajput wasn't the kind of guy who would take this drastic step and instead planned his life five years ahead. Ankita had said, "I want to tell everyone right now that Sushant wasn’t the kind of guy who would be in depression...He was a happy go lucky guy. Sushant and I must have faced worse situations in our lives. After a certain time period, I started thinking how could anybody be sure about the suicide within 15 minutes. Aapne suddenly bol diya ye suicide hai, photos leak ho gayin, videos leak ho gaya." She had continued, "I have not seen a person like Sushant who writes his own dreams. He used to write diaries that had his dreams of next five years, and he fulfilled them exactly after five years." Commenting on Sushant Singh Rajput changing his SIM cards frequently and not staying in touch with his family members, Ankita Lokhande had said, "I am very sure there is someone out there who knows the truth. There has to be somebody who knows why he was changing the number... Sushant aisa insaan hi nahi tha, number change kar raha hai, apni behno se baat nahi kar raha hai, apne papa se baat nahi kar raha hai."
On July 14, 2020, one month had passed away since Sushant Singh Rajput had left us, leaving our Dil, Bechara! To mark that day, Ankita Lokhande had remembered Sushant and had prayed for the 'Child Of God'. Sharing a picture of a diya, surrounded with flowers in the temple of her house, Ankita had written, "Child of God." That was the first time that Ankita had posted something since Sushant's demise.
In the same interview with Arnab Goswami, Ankita Lokhande had revealed her first reaction when she had come to know about Sushant Singh Rajput's demise. She had recalled, "I picked up the call and there was this reporter and she said 'Ankita!! Sushant has committed suicide. And I was finished!.. It was something.. you don't expect something like this.. It is very difficult for me.. and for all of us.. I went out.. my mom was there.. and it was all over. All news channels had only this.. that Sushant is no more.. that he had committed suicide, that was the headline.. and I didn't know what to do."
