Shweta Bachchan Gets Trolled, User Asks, 'She Survived In Rs. 3000 While Living In 300 CR Bungalow?'

It is widely believed that a superstar‘s child will become an actor, and we don’t blame you for this! As the nepotism drama is still rooted in Bollywood, many well-known faces in Tinseltown have followed in their parent's footsteps and joined the Hindi film industry. However, there are a few star kids who found success behind the camera. One such celebrity is Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan‘s beautiful daughter, Shweta Bachchan Nanda.

Shweta is an entrepreneur, a columnist, a mother and a doting daughter of India’s two most influential actors. Yet, she remained low-key and away from the limelight all her life. However, recently she has been brutally trolled by the netizens for sharing her financial struggles after marrying a businessman. For the unversed, Shweta is married to the chairman of Escorts Ltd, Nikhil Nanda, and they are parents to Navya Naveli Nanda and Agastya Nanda.

In Navya Naveli Nanda’s podcast, What The Hell Navya, Shweta Bachchan Nanda had talked about the financial struggles she had to go through after marriage. Shweta revealed working in a kindergarten for a monthly salary of Rs. 3000. She also added how she used to borrow money from her brother, Abhishek Bachchan, not just in college but in school too. In her words:

“I was borrowing money (from brother Abhishek Bachchan) not just in college but in school also... for buying food, and food. When you are in boarding school, it (food) is the number one commodity you can't live without... I was never educated on all this (managing finances). Then when I got married, and I was in Delhi, I had a job as an assistant teacher in a kindergarten, Learning Tree. There I got a salary, I think it was Rs 3000 a month. I put it in a bank."

However, the statements of Shweta didn't go well with the netizens as they found it difficult to believe that a star kid could also go through financial struggles. One user commented, "She is so brave for this. I wouldn't have survived on Rs. 3000 while living in my parent's 300 cr bungalow." Another troll tweeted, "What's her point? Does she say she is proud of the job she found or she is she is finding the salary for a teacher too less?".

In the same podcast, Shweta had stated that she fears numbers and thus doesn’t keep any account of her expenses. However, she is proud of her children, Navya and Agastya, as they maintain their daily expenses on an excel sheet. She said:

"I don't handle the finances of my business (even now). But I do understand (the financial side). I would never want you (Navya) to be like me. I am very happy both you and Agastya are very aware. Even now, in our house, Navya manages the money (daily expenses). Even I look at it (the family's finances listed on Excel sheet)... my ignorance in all things finances has not come down to you (Navya)... it's something about numbers, I just see them and I get nervous."

In an old conversation with the ETimes, Shweta Bachchan had mentioned why her parents, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, were so protective of her. She had said that shutterbugs and media were always eager to get a glimpse of her and Abhishek. Hence, Shweta said that it was the instinct of their parents to protect their kids from media attention and to do that, they had taken several strict steps. In her words:

“My parents are a lot more protective than I am, but that was a different time. My father and mother came from small towns in India and made their destinies in films. It brought them a lot of fame and recognition and for people who came from nuclear middle-class families, it’s a big change in life. So, when we were born, they had the instinct that we have to protect these kids because there was so much attention on them and it was a new way of life.”
