With the ongoing pandemic, while Bollywood actors like Sonu Sood and Ajay Devgn are given the status of real-life heroes, some including Kareena Kapoor Khan and Akshay Kumar are trolled for not doing 'enough' bit for the society. Netizens have been targeting some celebrities for not using their privilege and doing their bit for the ones, who are suffering during the pandemic, and some for not doing 'enough'. Amitabh Bachchan, after getting fed up with the 'everyday abuse', penned a long blog on Tumblr, addressing the hatred and negative comments celebrities are subjected to during the pandemic.

It was on July 11, 2020, when Amitabh Bachchan had informed that he was tested positive with the novel virus and was admitted to Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai. On August 2, 2020, Big B shared the good news with his fans that he tested negative for COVID-19 and was discharged from the hospital. Amitabh Bachchan had tweeted, "T 3613 - I have tested CoVid- have been discharged. I am back home in solitary quarantine. Grace of the Almighty, blessings of Ma Babuji, prayers & duas of near & dear & friends fans EF .. and the excellent care and nursing at Nanavati made it possible for me to see this day."

As the second wave of COVID-19 had hit India, a lot of celebrities are subjected to hatred and negative comments on social media for not contributing or not contributing 'enough' for the relief fund, despite being from the privileged section of the society. To address the negativity, Amitabh Bachchan penned a blog on Tumblr and shut down the trolls by listing his contribution and shared that he 'believes in doing charity rather than speaking about it'. In his blog, Mr Bachchan revealed that they have adopted two children, who lost their parents to COVID-19. He wrote, "Young children.. orphaned by the sudden death of the parents, left in oblivion.. have adopted 2 and shall be put in an orphanage in Hyderabad.. their study board and lodging free till they finish School... from the 1st to the 10th... and if they turn out bright to provide them with free upper education... and more, as and when the means are affordable."

Amitabh Bachchan further wrote that the past charities and contributions done by him and his family were kept under the wraps with no social media show-off. Without disclosing the amount, Big B listed other contributions of the Bachchan clan, which includes Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda's support for the families of Pulwama martyrs, providing food for over 400,000 daily wage earners last year for a month, providing masks and PPE kits to frontline workers, helping during the migrant workers' crisis and providing medical help to poor and needy.

Last year, when the Bachchan clan including Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aaradhya Bachchan, had tested positive for COVID-19, the nation had prayed for their speedy recovery. But there was one section, who wished death for Mr Bachchan. On July 27, 2020, Amitabh Bachchan had penned a long note on his official blog on Tumblr, hitting back to the trolls, who had wished death for him. Big B had written, "They write to tell me .."I hope you die with this Covid". Hey Mr Anonymous, you do not even write your Father's name because you do not know who Fathered you. There are only two things that can happen... either I shall die or either I shall live... if I die you wont get to write your diatribe anymore, by weathering your remark on a celebrity name... pity... for, the reason of your writing to be noticed was, because you took a swipe at Amitabh Bachchan... that shall no longer exist!!"
