In the world of glamour, it is very difficult for a newcomer to make his/her mark. Be it Rajkummar Rao, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Kartik Aaryan, or Kriti Sanon, Yami Gautam and Bhumi Pednekar, all these non-nepo kids have strived their way to stardom with sheer hard work. Whereas, there is always an edge for celeb kids, who are not just born with a silver spoon but are destined to be seen on the silver screen one day.
And whenever the infamous topic of nepotism crops up, Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar’s names hit the spotlight. Daughter of filmmaker, Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan, Alia Bhatt always wanted to be an actress. And it was Karan Johar, who launched Alia Bhatt under his banner, Dharma Productions. She has often thanked Karan, who she considers as her father, best friend and mentor for shaping her career.

Although Alia Bhatt has proven the mettle of her acting with films like Highway, Udta Punjab, Gully Boy, and Gangubai Kathiawadi, the actress is often targeted for being a product of nepotism. And now, an old interview of Aishwarya Rai resurfaced online, where the former Miss World talked about the opportunities given to Alia from the beginning of her career.
Taking a sly dig at Alia’s equation with the filmmaker, Karan Johar, because of which she never had any dearth of opportunities, Aishwarya stated:
“I have said this to her (Alia Bhatt) also, ‘It’s fantastic for you’. The kind of support Karan (Johar) has given to her from the beginning, and to have that kind of an establishment with you is very comforting because you know it is not tough.”
In the same interaction, the Guru actress also stated how good opportunities are literally falling on her lap. In her words:
“You can have it all laid out for the longest time. And she smiled. It’s great where you as an actor know there are only good opportunities ahead. But what’s nice is she (Alia Bhatt) is also doing good work, along with great opportunities which are virtually there literally on her lap, regularly.”

Aishwarya’s video garnered mixed reviews from netizens as some heaped praise on her bold statement, while others poured her with criticism for taking a dig at Alia. Some even dragged Aishwarya’s husband and actor, Abhishek Bachchan and reminded her how he himself is the son of veteran actor, Amitabh Bachchan and received many opportunities in the industry.
For the unversed, Alia Bhatt made her acting debut with Karan Johar’s film, Student Of The Year and was paid Rs. 15 lakhs for her debut film.
