Innumerous times had Aishwarya and Salman come out in the open and spoken about their relationship in the media. While people said that Salman was very passionate about his love story with Aishwarya Rai which was soon turning to marriage, then came the news that this once lovebirds have parted ways. Reason being, Salman’s aggressive behaviour towards Aishwarya. While we will take you on a flashback of all that happened, let us ask you a question. Remember the time when you bumped into your ex or made every possible attempt to turn blind eye to each other at common parties? Something similar happened with this now estranged couple at famous Bollywood director, Subhash Ghai’s birthday bash.
It was the star director’s 74th birthday on January 24, 2019, and Subhash Ji had thrown a birthday bash for the same. While there were many celebrities were on the invitees' list, two of the most watched-out celebrities were once ex-flames, Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai. Salman and Aishwarya have always figured out means to avoid bumping into parties, or not going into one altogether if they knew that the other one was coming, but this one was a little different. Subhash Ghai shares a great term with both Salman and Aishwarya and as a result, it seemed irrevocable for the stars to give the party a miss. As per an India Today report, this is how the ex-couple avoided any means to bump into each other, “The duo chose separate exits and entries while coming and leaving the party. During the #MeToo movement, a video of a throwback interview of the Sultan star emerged, wherein, when asked by a journalist, if Salman has ever hit a woman, he replied, “Yeah, now that woman has said that I have. I mean there was a journalist Prabhu Chawla who asked me this long time ago, so I just banged the table he got startled, the table really broke. I mean, if I hit somebody, it's obviously a fight, I am going to be angry. I am going to whack and give it my best shot. I don't think she would've survived it." In yet another throwback interview with The Times of India, Aishwarya revealed many shocking reasons behind her breakup with Salman. She had shared, “Salman and I broke up last March, but he isn't able to come to terms with it. After we broke up, he would call me and talk rubbish. He also suspected me of having affairs with my co-stars. I was linked up with everyone, from Abhishek Bachchan to Shah Rukh Khan. There were times when Salman got physical with me, luckily without leaving any marks. And I would go to work as if nothing had happened.”
Speaking about his aggressive attitude and violent nature, the former Miss World stated, “I stood by him enduring his alcoholic misbehaviour in its worst phases and in turn, I was at the receiving end of his abuse (verbal, physical and emotional), infidelity and indignity. That is why like any other self-respecting woman I ended my relationship with him.” She had also very straightforwardly revealed that Salman had indirectly once confessed cheating on her. The Devdas star quipped, “He indirectly confessed to me one day.”
Confessing his love for Aishwarya, Salman had once shared in an interview, “I love [Aishwarya]. I am not hounding her. It's not a teenage obsession that I feel for her — it's pure love. She's such a traditional Hindustani girl at the bottom of her heart. Speaking about family and parents, the Maine Pyar Kiya star had stated back then, “Her parents are very nice people. They are orthodox like my family. They have heard about my past affairs and they didn't like me in the life of their daughter. It is my fault, not theirs. I should have understood it earlier. They never stopped me from meeting with Aishwarya despite the fact that I treated them badly. Aishwarya did not like my behaviour towards them just as I would not appreciate anybody misbehaving with my father. Aishwarya's father is completely justified in complaining against me. I have no grudge against him.” But the present looks so far from what Salman had then thought.
But looks like all's well that ends well! While Aishwarya is happily married to Abhishek Bachchan and is blessed with an adorable daughter, Aaradhya, Salman is reportedly dating Romanian TV presenter, Lulia Vantur.
