Popular television actress, Sudha Chandran confirmed the ongoing speculations about her father and veteran actor, KD Chandran's demise at the age of 86 in Mumbai. The daughter confirmed the devastating news with an emotional post on one of her social media handles. Also, she talked about the reason behind his death in her latest interview with a leading media portal. For the unversed, KD Chandran had worked in a lot of iconic movies like China Gate, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Tere Mere Sapne, and many more, which is why his demise is a big loss to Indian cinema.

It is heartbreaking to witness this news after we all celebrated KD Chandran's 86th birthday a few days ago on May 8, 2021. On his special day, it was his daughter, Sudha Chandran, who had taken to her IG handle and had shared a picture of her dearest daddy along with a cutesy note in which she had thanked him for teaching her the best values of life. Her note could be read as "Happy birthday to you Appa.....thnx for inculcating the best values of life and making me what I am today. So proud to be your daughter.… Ravi and myself wish u a Very happy birthday. Love you Appa."

On May 16, 2021, Sudha Chandran took to her Instagram handle and shared a picture of her father and veteran actor, KD Chandran, as she confirmed the news of her father's demise. The doting daughter penned a heartbreaking note in the caption, in which she promised her father that she'd follow all his teachings and principles till the end of her life. However, she also confessed that a part of her is gone forever with her father and it left everyone teary-eyed. Her caption can be read as "Goodbye Appa..till we meet again...so proud to be your daughter....I promise you that I will follow Ur principles and experience and your values till the last breath of my life ...but I must confess a part of me is gone with you Appa ...Ravi and Sudha Love you to eternity.... prayers to god that I should be born as your daughter again. Om shanti."

In an interview with ETimes TV, Sudha Chandran confirmed the news about her father, KD Chandran's demise and revealed all the necessary details about it. The actress stated that her father passed away on May 16, 2021, at 9:30 in the morning, after a severe multi-organ failure. She also added that her father was a diabetic person, and because of his old age, his organs had started collapsing at a rapid pace. She stated, "It happened today morning at 9:30. He was a patient of Dementia, three-four days back, he suddenly just spaced out, and he was running very high temperature. It was a multi-organ failure. He was also a diabetic patient and plus he was 86 year old, so one after the other his organs started collapsing. It was a multi organ failure. He suddenly slept in peace."

Going further in her conversation, Sudha Chandran clearly stated that her father was negative to COVID-19, so they decided to shift him to a non-COVID hospital, but nothing came out fruitful for them, as his lungs were already badly affected. She said, "We got a COVID test done which came out negative. But the fever was not subsiding despite giving him antibiotics. That's when we decided to shift him to a non-Covid hospital which was Criti Care. There we found out that he was having problems with breathing and his lungs were getting affected."

The devastated daughter also heaped immense praise on her father, KD Chandran, and revealed how he had supported her at every step of her life. She revealed, "I lost my mother in 2004, and it was a very big blow for me. I still remember when I met with an accident and the amputation had to take place, he came to me and held my hand and said don't worry 'I shall be the leg that you have lost'. Today, my success story I owe it to my parents. I have always repeatedly said this."
