Bollywood's evergreen actor, Anil Kapoor has gained a huge fan base, all thanks to his acting caliber. The actor has never been part of the Tinseltown's controversies and stayed away from being Page-3's source of gossip. He has been a perfectionist and made a huge name in the world of glam and glitz through his acting chops. While Anil was making a big name in B-town, his soulmate, Sunita Kapoor was busy managing the entire Kapoor clan. And his wife, Sunita has a big hand in turning the 'Jhakkas' Kapoor into a perfect family man and a doting father of three kids - Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Rhea Kapoor and Harshvardhan Kapoor. She has often been referred to as the binding force of the Kapoor clan that keeps them running on their toes.
On May 19, 2019, Anil and Sunita completed glorious 35 years of togetherness and their first-born daughter, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja have made their day super special with a throwback picture of the couple. She took to her Instagram handle and wrote, "Mom, you are the yin to Dad's yang. He lights up your eyes like no one else. The two of you are pure magic together. Sunita and Anil also poured their heart out in an adorable Instagram wish for each other. They shared the same picture on their respective Instagram handle. However, Sunita wrote how they shared good times and bad times together. Her post can be read as, "Sharing the good times, bearing the hard times, trusting in love to show us the way. Laughing and living ,trusting and forgiving. Together forever, side by side, day by day and the years have flown." On the other hand, Anil wrote, "The best thing that ever happened to me is you...Our life together has been one big adventure & through it all, you were my love, are my love & will be my love till my last breath. Your love & support is the reason for who and what I am. Thank you for the best 11 years of dating & 35 years of marriage! I can't wait to spend the next 46 with you! Coming back to their love story, in an interview with Humans of Bombay, Anil had revealed how their love took its flight with a prank call. He had shared, "A friend of mine gave Sunita my number to prank call me––that’s when I first spoke to her and fell in love with her voice! Soon after, we met at a party––there was just something about her. We started talking and became friends. We used to discuss this other girl I liked - you know, if I like her or she likes me? Then suddenly that girl vanished, leaving me heartbroken – our friendship strengthened because of that! Little did I know that Sunita was the one all along – we started dating organically? It’s not like in the movies––I didn’t ask her to be my girlfriend––we both just knew."
He had further mentioned about his struggling days and how Sunita stood by him through thick and thin, “She was from a liberal family––a banker’s daughter with a modelling career and I was bekaar! She didn’t care who I was or what my profession is - none of it mattered! I lived in Chembur and she lived on Nepeansea road – it took me an hour to reach by bus. She would start screaming, ‘No come fast by cab!’ and I’d say ‘Arrey I don’t have money’ then she’d say ‘Just come na’ and pay for my cab! We dated for 10 years––we travelled and grew together. She was always clear that she won’t enter the kitchen. If I said ‘cook’ I’d get a kick! I knew I needed to become something before asking her to marry me. I went through the struggle of not getting work, but she supported me unconditionally.”
Anil Kapoor culminated his first big break in Bollywood and his sudden marriage to his ladylove, Sunita. “So when I got my first break, ‘Meri Jung’ I thought, now house will come, kitchen will come, help will come...I can get married! So I called Sunita and said, ‘Let’s get married tomorrow – it’s tomorrow or never’ and the next day, we were married! I went for shoot 3 days later and madam went abroad on our honeymoon...without me!”
Anil had further added, “Honestly, she knows me better than I know me. We’ve built our life; our home together. We’ve raised 3 kids and been through ups and downs. But I feel like we’re finally dating now – romantic walks and dinners have just begun! We’ve been together 45 years––45 years of friendship, love and companionship. They don’t make people like her anymore. She’s the perfect mother, perfect wife and the reason I wake up every morning, motivated. You know why?
