Ek chutki sindoor ki keemat tum kya jaano Ramesh babu, Ek suhagan ke sar ka taj hota hai ek chutki sindoor- this is one of the famous dialogue from the movie, Om Shanti Om. Well, sindoor is considered to be a mark of married women. Indian woman considers sindoor as sentiment and tradition. They fill their foreheads with beautiful sindoor every day.

All the rituals performed during the marriage ceremonies have their own significance. One such tradition is the application of sindoor on the forehead by married women. It has been a part of the tradition since centuries. It is one of the solah shringars that a married woman is supposed to wear. The sindoor is applied with the hope that it will increase the life of the husband. While modern Indian women have a different take on that, some of our fashionable Bollywood divas have donned sindoor and looked stunning.

#1. Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli had tied the knot on December 11, 2017, in a complete fairytale wedding. The pictures from their wedding had made us weep happy tears for months. The actress had looked beautiful in a pink Sabyasachi lehenga on her big day. For her Delhi reception, Anushka had donned a sindoor look and she had literally looked like a diva. The sindoor look has complemented her beautifully. She had opted for a traditional red colour Banarasi saree for her Delhi reception and had tied her hair in a neat bun and the highlight of her look was her sindoor. For her first Karwa Chauth, Anushka had worn a yellow coloured saree and was seen flaunting her sindoor for the long life of her husband, Virat.

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh were back to Mumbai after having a fairytale wedding in Italy. The two were spotted at the Mumbai airport and the bride had sported a post-wedding bridal glow and was looking every bit of gorgeous! She had looked like a nayi naveli bahu in a silk kurta-churidar paired with a bright red Banarasi dupatta. She was seen happily flaunting her sindoor, bindi, mehendi chooda, etc. But what had caught our eyes was the red sindoor filled maang that Deepika had flaunted with her sleek low bun. Deepika has been spotted many times in and around the city, flaunting her sindoor look.

After tying the knot at Jodhpur's Umaid Bhawan Palace on December 1-2, 2018, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are a happily married couple now. Post their wedding rituals, the two were spotted at the airport, leaving for Mumbai. The couple had made their first public appearance after the lavish wedding. Priyanka had looked elegant in a dark green Sabyasachi sheer saree with golden embroidery. To complete the look, she had worn the bridal choodasindoor and mangalsutra with a statement neckpiece. Priyanka, who is mostly travelling for her work, loves to sport sindoor with her western outfits as well.

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan's wedding was a grand affair and was filled with glam and glitz. In a traditional saree by Neeta Lulla that had cost Rs 75 lakhs for the wedding, Aishwarya had looked perfect! Just after the wedding, Aishwarya had stepped out in a beautiful red saree, holding her husband's hand, with lots of sindoor on her forehead. Like a proper sanskari bahu, Aishwarya has been spotted wearing sindoor and happily flaunting it at many occasions.

Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover’s monkey wedding was full of masti and dhamaal and the bride and groom had enjoyed every bit of it. It was a true-blue-Bengali wedding and Bipasha had looked gorgeous in a red lehenga. For the reception, she had opted for a golden-coloured gown and kept her hair loose. To complete her look, she had opted for a generous amount of sindoor on her forehead. Bipasha Basu Singh Grover had made the sindoor look beautiful on her reception day.

After getting back from her honeymoon, she had paid a visit to a famous temple, where she was seen wearing her sindoor. And she had rocked the look like no one else!

Sonam Kapoor gave a pleasant surprise to all her fans when she had tied the knot with longtime beau, Anand Ahuja on May 8, 2018. The actress had looked like a dream in her red-coloured lehenga. Right after her Gurudwara wedding, Sonam had changed into a pastel-coloured saree and had aced her sindoor and chooda look. She had looked ravishing in her first sindoor look.

She had opted for a red salwar-suit designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee for a store launch and she had happily flaunted her chooda and sindoor. Being a perfect married woman, Rani is often spotted wearing sindoor with her traditional outfits.

Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapur had a low-key wedding on December 14, 2012. Vidya is very proud of her South Indian lineage and following the same, she had made her first post-wedding appearance in a Kanjeevaram saree. She had worn exquisite gold jewellery and sindoor too. Vidya loves her sindoor look and has been flaunting it like a pro with her desi avatar, ever since.
