After taking a hiatus from cricket before the birth of his second child, Virat is back on the ground. Recently, his IPL team, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won its second match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on March 25, 2024. As soon as the match was over, Virat was presumably on a call with his wife, Anushka. In a viral clip, the cricketer was captured blowing kisses while he was on the call. This clip was shared on X (formerly Twitter), and people have penned down their reactions to it. While a segment of the online community thought this was a heartwarming gesture, others were of the opinion that Virat was seeking attention. A user said, “This is called, playing to the gallery”, another one wrote, “Virat Kohli is clear with his priorities”. A third netizen mentioned, “Attention seeking at its peak. He went to the dressing room, brought his phone from there and finally chose the field spot to this kinda stuff.”

Virat and Anushka announced the birth of their second child, son Akaay, on February 20, 2024, in a collaborative post on Instagram. Before the birth of his baby boy, the cricketer chose to miss the entire five-match Test series against England to be with his family. His decision led to several debates amongst cricket fanatics, but he did not pay much heed to such noises. Recently, in an interview, Virat shared his thoughts on taking a break from the game.
The Indian cricketer said that it felt surreal to be in a place where no one recognised him, and he could spend quality time with his family for two months. Virat thanked the Almighty for bestowing him with the opportunity to spend some time with his family before the birth of his second child. In his words:
"We were not in the country. We were in a place where people were not recognising us. Just time together as a family, just to feel normal for two months - for me, my family - it was a surreal experience. Of course, having two kids, things become totally different from a family perspective. Just the ability to be together, the connections you make with your older child. Couldn't have been more grateful to God for the opportunity to spend time with the family. It's an amazing experience to just be another person on the road and not be recognised.”
