The Hinduja Group of Companies co-chairman, London-based, Gopichand Hinduja’s son, Sanjay Hinduja, is one of the multi-millionaires in India. He has led Gulf Oil International Limited’s global strategy and expansion. Apart from his multi-billion business, Sanjay Hinduja garnered a lot of limelight in 2015 for his lavish wedding.
For the unversed, the business magnate tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend, Anusuya Mahtani. The opulent wedding took place in a lavish resort in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The wedding, which was attended by the crème de la creme of the entertainment, business and political world, lasted for seven days. Sanjay Hinduja hosted two lavish pre-wedding parties in Mumbai. The first party took place at the Hinduja bungalow in Juhu. The party was attended by several politicians like Devendra Fadnavis, Uddhav Thackeray, Chaggan Bhujbal, Shaina NC and Milind Deora. It was reported that for the grand party, cuisine from 16 to 18 countries was included.
The second pre-wedding party took place on February 6, 2015, at the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai, with approximately 3,000 guests in attendance. Alcohol and non-veg were not served, and rather, a huge spread of different vegetarian cuisines was the highlight. The who’s who of Bollywood, including Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Rishi Kapoor, Boney Kapoor and many more, were present. Others in the limelight were Amar Singh, Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani.
The big fat Sindhi wedding of Sanjay Hinduja and Anusuya Mahtani was nothing less than a fairytale. Before the actual wedding, a slew of pre-wedding ceremonies took place. As per multiple reports, the pre-wedding functions took place at different venues in the city of Lakes.

The main highlight of the pre-wedding function was the sangeet ceremony, which took place on February 10, 2015, at the Taj Lake Palace. It had American singer, Nicole Scherzinger of Pussycat Dolls performing. The diva danced along to Bollywood hunks, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor to the beats of the song, ‘Tune Maari Entriyaan’ from the film, Gunday. It was reported that Nicole charged a whopping sum of Rs. 40 lakhs for her appearance.
Sanjay Hinduja and Anusuya Mahtani’s grand wedding had 16,000 guests in attendance. Ace fashion designers, Manish Malhotra and Tarun Tahiliani designed the couple’s wedding and pre-wedding attires. For the wedding, Anu chose a maroon and gold lehenga from Tarun Tahiliani. It was reported that the wedding attires of the bride and the groom reportedly cost Rs. 10 crores.
Another major highlight of the wedding was a scintillating performance by American sensation Jennifer Lopez. The actress, songwriter cum singer reportedly charged a whopping amount of Rs. 54 lakhs to shake a leg at the wedding. The singer arrived in the city with her ex-flame, Casper Smart.
It was JLO’s first visit to India, and she even posted a selfie on her social media handle. As per multiple reports, JLO stayed in the Kohinoor Suite of The Oberoi Udaivilas, which costs a mind-boggling Rs. 3 lakhs per night. The overall cost of the wedding was reported to be Rs. 150 crores.

Around 208 chartered planes flew for the guests, costing Rs. 20 crores. Not just this, hundreds of BMW cars were hired to drive the guests, with private chauffeurs for each guest. Sanjay and Anusuya’s wedding was a star-studded event with guests from all walks of life. Bollywood biggies like Shilpa Shetty, Preity Zinta, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Ranveer Singh, Dino Morea, Raveena Tandon and many big celebs attended the wedding.
Anusuya Mahtani is the daughter of Indu Mahtani and Manu Mahtani and the sister of fashion designer and socialite, Nandita Mahtani. Anusuya runs a boutique in London, which she manages with her sister, Nandita.
Anusuya (popularly known as Anu) specializes in Kaftan and is also known as the Kaftan queen. She was previously married to businessman, Suren Mirchandani, and she has a son from her previous marriage. In 2018, Anusuya and Sanjay became proud parents of a baby boy.
Sanjay Hinduja’s wedding with Anusuya Mahtani is still considered one of its kind and is still etched in people’s hearts for its grandeur.
