Raveena Tandon On Cutthroat Rivalry In Bollywood, Adds How It Tends To Ruin Personal Relationships

Raveena Tandon is one among the foremost actresses in Bollywood, who has never minced her words and spoken her mind with brutal honesty. With her career of decades in as competitive a field like the film industry, the evergreen diva has ruled zillions of hearts with equal charisma, and has delivered some superb hits at the box office. In her personal life, she is married to eminent film distributor, Anil Thadani and the duo is blessed with a daughter, Rasha and a son, Ranbirvardhan.

Raveena Tandon says the film industry has become cutthroat, people have become insecure

In an interaction with Rajshree Unplugged, Raveena Tandon retrospected the massive changes that have been witnessed in the film industry. She revealed that with the passage of time, everything has become informal, impersonal and a sort of cutthroat rivalry has become the accepted norm of the time. Moreover, she talked about how most artists now nurture a sense of insecurity against their contemporaries, to the extent that they can attempt to pull down the other via personal relationships of boyfriends and girlfriends. Explaining more, she said:

“The atmosphere on set used to be so much fun. People would be teasing each other about fights, affairs, revenge dramas… It used to be action-packed. Some people are insecure, and they can’t bear to see others succeed. They look for ways to pull others down. This could be via their relationships, via the groups they belong to, they could come at you via your boyfriends and girlfriends. Our industry is undoubtedly competitive. It’s happened to me as well.”

Raveena vouches to have never harmed anyone’s career with malice in her mind

Moving forth in the conversation, Raveena proudly claimed how she is one such actress who has never partaken in harming any other artist’s career, purely out of malice or with sheer willingness. She added that if due to her decisions or propositions, someone’s else’s career got ruined, she was more than happy to apologise, since she believes it was done unknowingly. In her words:

“If something like this has ever happened because of me, it was unintentional, and I’m willing to apologise for it. My father used to say that when a baby learns to walk, it falls over and over again before it can stand up and eventually become someone who can walk with their head held high. This was the lesson that I was taught. I haven’t hurt anybody, I haven’t had anybody thrown out of a film. And I don’t have problems working with newcomers, because I too was a newcomer once.”
