According to a report published in DNA, the Chopra household is gearing up to throw a grand baby shower for their bahu, Rani Mukerji. Rani wants a traditional Bengali ceremony, which is also called the shaad or shaad-bhakkhan in Bengali, mid-next month combined with a godh bharai.

The shaad is generally celebrated in the seventh or eighth month, and is a very intimate occasion wherein the mother-to-be is pampered with her favourite food. New clothes and gifts are also given to her to keep her lively and surround her with positive vibes. Another ritual that is followed by Bengalis is that a healthy boy and a healthy girl are made to sit on either side of the expecting mother, so that the child to-be born is just as healthy as those children. This will be combined with the North Indian ceremony called godh bharai (fill the lap with abundance of good wishes) in which the mother-to-be is given gifts, fruits and sweets to welcome the unborn baby to the family and bless it.

Rani will be wearing a traditional Bengali silk saree for the ceremony, and a puja will be performed before the festivities begin. The ceremony will be held at the Chopra mansion. And her mother-in-law, Pamela Chopra is heard to be leaving no stone unturned to make the celebrations a grand affair. Rani was earlier hospitalised after the Diwali celebrations (seen here with Preity Zinta at the Bachchan's Diwali party), but is said to be recovering now.
