This desi, the tough rough-edged personality guy, rose to fame with India’s one of the most popular reality shows among youth, Roadies. We are talking about the creator of MTV Roadies and MTV Splitsvilla, Raghu Ram. Raghu divorced his wife, Sugandha Garg in 2016. Looks like the cupid has struck this producer-actor again!
According to the reports, Raghu has found love again in Italian–Canadian singer, Natalie Di Luccio. A source close to the couple confirmed that they have been dating for quite some time now. The lovebirds are trying to take it slow and giving time to understand each other. Both Natalie and Raghu had failed relationships in their past. Raghu ended his 10-years-of-marriage with Sugandha, the cool chick from the Imran Khan-Genelia Deshmukh starrer Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na. The couple had an amicable separation and they deeply care for each other as well. On the other hand, Natalie was madly in love with Kkavyanjali fame actor Eijaz Khan.
Announcing his divorce news, Raghu gave the statement, “Our relationship has changed over time. Today, we might not be a couple, but we are still the best of friends. The disconnect was bound to happen. The important thing is that we started off as friends, and we realised that if our relationship isn’t working, then it is best to stay friends. We have prioritised our friendship over everything else. I am happy about that, and so is she. The time we spent apart was too much, and the time we spent together wasn’t enough to sustain our connection. It’s better to be in each other’s lives as friends instead. It is not something we have taken lightly, and that’s why, it hasn’t been easy. But since we took the decision, it has been good. Right now, it might seem casual, but it’s not. However, I believe that it doesn’t always have to be acrimonious.”
Natalie’s ex-boyfriend Eijaz spilled the beans on the reason behind their separation, and said, "We were two amazing people at different phases in our lives. The root cause of our relationship falling apart was my psyche. It started going downhill during 'Laut Aao Trisha'. I played a dark character, who turns bitter after losing his wife and daughter. Somewhere, the lines blurred between real and reel and our relationship suffered. I had to undergo therapy for depression, and it made me realise that I was superimposing my childhood memories to play the part. I also realised that all my issues are deeply rooted in my childhood. I had unresolved issues with my parents after they parted ways. My aunts took turns to look after me. I never had a strong bond with my parents. I was always looking for someone to hold on to, some sort of an anchor."
He further continued, “Coming back to Natalie, we remain cordial. I never loved anybody like I loved her — like a child, my equal, a friend, travel partner. I don't think it was right for me to expect Natalie to give her precious time to our relationship. I would have also advised her to focus on her career if I were her family. I am the only person who knows the real Natalie. After she left, I was very disturbed to the point of not wanting to live anymore. I would lock myself up in my room for days on end. As actors, we are emotionally fragile. On top of that, we men are expected to be macho and strong, no matter how broken we are inside.”
After some rough times, the duo found solace in each other. In December 2016, Raghu and Natalie released a musical single Aankhon Hi Aankhon Mein. With this song, Raghu transformed his persona on-screen to a romantic guy. Talking about the song, Natalie had said in an interview, “The song is about two people who are in love, a young love, where no words are required for them to express it, they just need to look into each other’s eyes. The video is about the feels and the chemistry."
While Raghu said, “Natalie is a friend of mine and she was looking for somebody who could edit this track. So, I edited the video and to introduce the video we had come live on her Facebook page. A lot of people mentioned that we should do a song together. She is an international opera singer. It was nerve-wracking for me but she gave me that confidence to sing. Funny thing is she had done a Hindi song which I had seen on YouTube and I have become her fan ever since that video. It’s amazing to be a part of this song.”
