India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani’s eldest son, Akash Ambani has been in the news lately. His wedding rumours with Shloka Mehta have been rife after disclosed information from sources close to the Ambanis went viral last week. Recently, one such source close to the family spilt beans on Akash Ambani’s wedding to a leading daily. It was quoted, “Shloka is a very charming girl, extremely cultured and it’s difficult to say which of the two families is lucky with this upcoming marriage.”
However, another source defied such rumours last week itself, and said, “No dates of either the wedding or engagement of Akash Ambani have been finalised. And now, Nita Ambani herself has come out in the open and cleared the air. In a conclave that she attended recently, Nita opened up about Akasha Ambani’s wedding and was quoted as saying, “Mukesh and I as parents have given our children the freedom to choose their life partners. When my son decides to get married, to whoever it is, we are going to welcome him and wish him all the happiness in the world.”
For the ones who don’t know, Shloka Mehta is the daughter of Russell Mehta, who is the Managing Director of Rosy Blue, a Belgian-Indian company which deals in diamonds. Ambanis and Mehtas have been close family friends for long, and Akash and Shloka have been close with each other ever since the two studied together at Dhirubhai Ambani International School. Akash Ambani is the chief strategist at Jio India and Shloka has completed her Masters in Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is also one of the members in the panel of board of directors at Rosy Blue. She also recently co-founded ConnectFor.
In December last year, a fake news of Akash Ambani’s wedding card took the internet by storm. A video surfaced online on Twitter and it was initially reported that each wedding card costs 1.5 lakh rupees! Later, in another development, the Reliance Industries reached out to the media houses and clarified stating that it was a hoax.
No matter what, there is no denying to the fact that Akash Ambani’s wedding will probably be the grandest wedding in India. As per reports, Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta’s engagement will take place on March 24, 2018, and the wedding is scheduled for December this year.
