Ever since Shahid Kapoor’s wife, Mira Rajput made some remarks about her idea of motherhood and feminism, on the occasion of Women’s Day, the young lady has constantly been under media scrutiny.
After she infamously put forward her opinions on motherhood and compared her daughter Misha to a puppy. She has received a lot of flak from people all over the country. The ones most affected by her comments were working mothers. In fact, the working women actually came out and penned an open letter to Mira.
To give you an overview of what the whole hullabaloo was about, let us tell you where it all began.
On the occasion of Women’s Day, during a talk, Mira had expressed her views on being a housewife and a mom by saying the following things:
“I had a tough pregnancy, I went to those 5 months of difficult times to bring my daughter into this world. So now I want to spend every moment that I can with her and I think there is a set of responsibilities around my plate and I feel at my age I have a lot more energy, I have my future ahead of me, so I can finish all of my responsibility and I have nothing in my way. I can raise my daughter, I can be a good wife. Nothing will stop me after that. I love being at home, I love being a mother to my child, I wouldn’t want to spend one hour a day with my child and rush off to work, why did I have her? She is not a puppy; I want to be there for her as a mother.”
This comment of hers angered a lot of people, more so because of her ‘puppy’ analogy.
To add fuel to the fire, she commented about her views on the idea of feminism floating around these days, and said:
“Feminism isn’t woman versus man. It is about equality. A new wave of feminism has come that is aggressive… I feel it is destructive. There is a new term called ‘feminazi’, which is the female equivalent of a chauvinist. I think there should be harmony between the two sexes and equilibrium.”
We totally agree that each and every person on the face of this Earth has a right to put forth his/her opinion, and that is exactly what Mira did. However, somewhere in the process, she upset many people, some of which came out and openly slammed her. But, the newest person to bring a fresh wave of Mira-bashing in the scenario is her classmate from her college days.
The girl has penned an open letter to Mira where she has made some shocking revelations about what kind of person Mira used to be in college. We do not know how authentic these claims are, but well, here is what the girl had to say:
Having watched your interview, I feel extremely enraged today. I’ve spent three years in the same college and batch as you. I can say today with confidence that your idea of feminism is extremely flawed. Seeing you walk around with your posse in college, belittling women who were not skinny enough or did not subscribe to your fashion ‘standards’ makes me wonder what you ever did to have a moral high ground over anyone at any point. Your narrow world view is astounding, to say the least. And not to forget, how your statement about working mothers takes us years back in reaching actual empowerment of which you seem to know nothing.
With lots of aggression,
An informed feminist”
This is indeed very shocking. We are no one to judge anybody based on the claims made about in an online arena, but we still shudder at the possibility of everything written in the post being true.
Mira has always come across as a very charming, decent and sophisticated young woman, who knows how to stand her ground. But, never once did we feel that she could be one of those typical ‘mean girls’ of the college. We do not know how much truth these claims made by ‘an informed feminist’ hold, but nonetheless, they are shocking.
If there’s one person who always loves you deeply and unconditionally, unbendingly supports you and always welcomes you with open arms, it is your mother. She's the one who gets us back on our feet every time we fall and honestly, we can never ever imagine our lives without the magicalRead More
