Look Stylish at Work with Trendy Office Wear Tips

When it comes to dressing for office most of us stick to the usual. While you are in a hurry to decide what to wear every morning, things that are too drab or sexy are totally off limit. But that does not mean that you can’t look trendy and stylish even at work. Tag along as we unveil the secrets of the perfect office wear.

A lot does depend on your work environment and whether you are juggling between corporate offices or studios and sets. But, certain things are a strict no-no. For example- spaghetti straps or halters, shorts, sneakers or sheer tops don’t work in any kind of work environ.

Dressing up for work in a way defines your character and personality. People take you more seriously if you are well turned out. For better understanding of what works and how, we have divided office wardrobe into these categories-

  1. Formal/Business
This incudes suits- matching shirts, trousers and blazers with closed shoes. Closed shoes, basic hairstyle and minimal jewellery finish off this look perfectly.
  2. Corporate Casual
You could experiment with denim jeans, trousers and blouses.
  3. Friday Fun
Stretches a bit to casual jeans, skirt and a top of your choice

Focussing on your own career goals, job description and environment can really help you select your outfit. The lines are blurring between formal and casual, so take your pick considering the following tips-

  • Choose a professional colour like red (fiery), grey (conservative), black (stylish) and blue (trustworthy). Picking softer colours like pink and lilac go well in pantsuits and skirts.
  • Restrict the jewellery. Do not wear too many pieces at one time and avoid chunky bracelets or rings.
  • A structured handbag/laptop bag that is compartmentalized to fit in your stationary is a must.
  • Needless to say, grooming is essential. Well-manicured nails and a neat hairstyle will only add to the look.
  • Make sure all the clothes are well fitted and ironed. Do not wear wrinkled garments to work.

Now let take a look at what’s hot this season.

Pencil Skirts
A total staple for office wear that can be dressed up or down depending on your mood. The appropriate length ends right above the knee and it should be well fitted at the waist. Choose dark colours if you wish to camouflage your problem areas. Team it up with a ruffled blouse and add a bright colour jacket. Heels are a must.

Pop-colour blazer
While you can wear a muted outfit, brighten it up with a fun colour blazer. Get hold of a pink or green. You can’t just wear it over jeans or trousers but dresses as well. If you like prints or like to go big on stripes or checks, do that. Make sure the size is right before you buy it.

High-Waist Trousers
A pair of high-waist black trousers cannot be ignored. Dress it up with silk shirts or a peplum top. Wide-leg trousers add length when worn with heels. Narrow trousers work for petite figures. Wearing heels with trousers only makes it more formal.

Shift Dresses
A dress works until the happy hours. Even if you have to go out after work, you wouldn’t have to change. Short dresses must be worn with tights. A plain dress can be teamed up with printed tights to add the missing glamour.

Do not let your corporate attire look fussy or too easy at any time. Go for versatile colours and combinations that add to your personality as well. If you dress well, work is always a party!
