Nothing escapes the paparazzi, so much so that even if two celebs go out for dinner, then under the garb of the word ‘alleged’, the two become a hot topic of the tinsel town for being in a relationship. The reason we’re saying this is because when it comes to relationships between two celebrities from Bollywood, a lot is speculated, written, said and done. Also, a few celebrities themselves come out in the open to talk about it. Now, when it comes to relationships, one celeb couple whose alleged affair is still deeply embedded in the rumour mills is Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.
Although the two have never spoken anything about their relationship of those days, it was very evidently understood that something was brewing between the two. They are not together anymore, and it’s commendable the way they have managed to retain a friendship even after their alleged break up. When Katrina Kaif made her appearance on Karan Johar’s show, Koffee with Karan, way back in 2007, she was asked by Karan what would her response be if Salman Khan ever asked her to marry him. And she lost her train of thought and words for a moment.
Then she replied, “This is not a rapid fire. This is so unfair! This is complete cheating, I swear. Depends when he asks me”.
The statement had then sparked many conjectures, of course. And even today, whenever Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif share a stage or are seen together at parties, rumour mills go abuzz with their long old relationship.
In 2017, in an interview with Vogue, Salman Khan opened up about his thoughts when he first met Katrina. He was quoted as saying, “It was a small get-together. She had come home for a party and I thought she was one of the sweetest girls ever. She knew my sisters and all my friends, but she didn’t know me”. But way back in 2014, when Jagga Jasoos had gone on the floors, and Katrina’s relationship with Ranbir Kapoor was the new sensation in media, the 33-year-old actress was asked if she dumped Salman over Ranbir. She replied to the Times of India, “Who said that I ditched Salman? Salman right? You know something? You guys in the media don't give a shit to stars' problems. You must, although I know you won't give a damn to what I am saying anyway”.
On probing further, she retorted and said, “This guy, this Salman, has a very long history of relationships. Believe me, his list is longer than Aamir's”. She further added, “Salman, yes Salman, wanted me to copy all his previous girlfriends. Although I am four inches taller than him anyway, he asked me to wear stilettos and look as tall as Sangeeta Bijlani all the time. After that, he instructed me, yes instructed me, to start playing women's cricket”.
She even went on to say that when she threatened to end her relationship with him, Salman brought another girl to her. Katrina revealed, “He brought a new girl to my house. She was wearing a batsman's pads, stilettos, grey contact lenses, holding a glass of port wine in one hand and an onion in the other while speaking in a horribly fake Romanian accent. He told me that he had decided to move on. But since he had shared a few happy memories with me, he had asked her to copy my smile, walk like me, and also learn my accent which nobody apart from me has”.
Well, that was 2014, and things were quite bitter between the two then, but today, in 2018, they are very amicable towards each other and share a genuine camaraderie of affection and respect.
