The dream girl of Bollywood, Hema Malini, needs no introduction. The veteran actress has time and again proved her acting mettle with critically and commercially acclaimed movies, and now the actress is also a humanitarian worker and an active politician. For the unversed, Hema Malini is a BJP member of the prestigious Lok Sabha from the Mathura region. On the personal front, Hema Malini is happily married to the veteran actor, Dharmendra and has two daughters, Esha and Ahana Deol.
Hema Malini recently sat for an interview with ABP, where she revealed that her entire family supports her political journeys and helps her balance her personal life and politics. She added that her husband, Dharmendra, and her elder daughter, Esha, takes interest in politics. She added that Esha may soon join politics and be a part of a political party. Hema Malini added:
"Esha is very much inclined for that. She likes to do it. So in the next few years, if she is interested, she will definitely join politics."

On February 6, 2024, Esha Deol and her husband, Bharat Takhtani, issued a joint statement stating that the couple had mutually decided to part ways. The duo added that they have made the decision after much consideration and will request everyone to respect their privacy as there are kids involved. For the unversed, Esha and Bharat have two daughters. Their statement can be read as:
"We have mutually and amicably decided to part ways. Through this shift in our lives, the best interests and welfare of our two children is and will be of utmost importance to us. We'd appreciate our privacy is respected."
As per reports from the Hindustan Times, Dharmendra does not want Esha and Bharat to go ahead with the divorce. He wants the duo to work on their marriage, as their separation may adversely affect their daughters. A source close to the Deol family added:
"No parents can be happy seeing their children's family being broken. Even Dharmendra ji is a father, and one can understand his pain. It's not that he is against his daughter's decision to get separated but wants her to rethink over it."

The same source also revealed that Dharmendra even requested his son-in-law, Bharat to reconsider the divorce. Bharat is extremely close to his father-in-law and has assured him that he will do what is best for the family. The source also revealed that Esha's kids, Radhya and Miraya, are close both to their maternal and paternal grandparents, and Dharmendra is scared that the divorce will scare them. The source further added:
"Esha and Bharat both respect Dharmendra immensely. He is like a son to the Deol family, while Esha is the apple of the eye of father Dharmendra and he wants her to be happy always. As her family is getting hooked, he is indeed sad, and that's the reason he wants them to reconsider getting separated. Esha and Bharat have two daughters, Radhya and Miraya. They are very close to their grandparents, paternal and maternal. Separation affects the kids badly and hence Dharamji feels if the marriage can be saved they should."
