The fairytale wedding of the year 2018, which took everyone by the pleasant surprise with the wedding announcement. The most handsome hunk of Indian television, Saraswatichandra actor Gautam Rode and his lady-love, Pankhuri Awasthy got married on February 5, 2018. The couple got engaged at around Diwali 2017, after secretly dating for a long time.
On February 4, 2018, the couple hosted a sangeet and mehendi ceremonies at one of the spectacular fort palaces in the Alwar town. But what caught everyone’s attention was the dreamy look of Gautam and Pankhuri. They both recreated the magical and romantic look of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s song Dil Diyaan Gallan from their film, Tiger Zinda Hai. Pankhuri took to her official Instagram handle to share the teasers of her sangeet and mehendi ceremony. She captioned her mehendi video, “Two people fell in love... #MehendiDay @rodegautam” and her sangeet video, “A fairy tale Saga to say the least!! #SangeetNight”
According to Mumbai Mirror, a source was quoted as saying, "Gautam and Pankhuri had exchanged rings during Diwali last year as part of a formal proposal but wanted to have a formal ceremony before the wedding with their family and friends in attendance. The sangeet happened in the evening with actress Nigaar Khan performing on some Bollywood hits.” The much-in-love couple also shared their Dil Diyaan Gallan moment by dancing to this track. They both look truly, madly and deeply in love with each other. What an amazing chemistry and coordination they had in their dance! Their couple dance was undoubtedly the highlight of their function.
Gautam and Pankhuri’s sangeet outfit was designed by the same designer, Ashely Rebello, who designed Salman and Katrina’s look for that song. For the mehendi and D-day, beautiful bride and her dashing groom chose Pawan and Pranav Haute Couture for their ensembles. From a colourful mehendi celebration to an elegant engagement function and a dhamakedaar sangeet night, the duo had a perfect fairy tale big fat destination wedding.
For the uninitiated ones, after the couple did a show, Suryaputra Karn together, the rumours of them dating each other started doing the rounds. But the lovebirds always denied such reports. Sharing their first impressions about each other on their sangeet night, a source was quoted as saying to Mumbai Mirror, "During the cocktail party, Pankhuri revealed that Gautam had come across as a snob when they first met on their show's set, while the actor wondered who the jhalli was when he saw her walking around in casual clothes ahead of call-time, admitting being taken aback when she eventually emerged for a shot in character as Drapaudi."
Mr. and Mrs. Rode share an age gap of 12 years, but it is rightly said that when in love, age is just a number. After getting introduced on the sets of Suryaputra Karn, their friendship gradually turned into love. But they never opened up about their relationship in public. Announcing the intimate roka ceremony with Pankhuri, Gautam retorted to a media portal, "Yes, Pankhuri and I recently got engaged and I feel lucky to have found a life partner like her. We share the same wavelength and she has fit into my family perfectly." And after announcing his engagement, Gautam was quoted as saying as to why he didn’t talk about it earlier, "The engagement isn’t secret anymore. Everyone knows about it now. The intention was never to keep it a secret. I have always believed that there is no point of talking about something until you know which direction it is going to go in. Once both the families got involved, we got engaged, I did speak about it. Now, I know for sure that our relationship is moving towards marriage and hence I am talking about it."
