How many times does it happen that your childhood sweetheart becomes your wife later? Not often, right? But when it happens, it is the most amazing feeling in the world. You are on cloud nine. And this is what happened with Karanveer Mehra.

Karan met Devika in school. She was one popular girl. In fact, Karan was not the only guy who had a huge crush on her but, despite the tough competition, he won Devika’s heart. He said:
“We were together since school time -we were classmates. And, she was the most beautiful girl and popular - at least four-five guys in my class wanted to befriend her but, I got lucky! I think even she knew ki banda actor banega toh pakad lo isey (laughs). Jokes apart, she is the best person I have in my life and over the years, our love, understanding and friendship is just the same.”
Karan further added:
“She is a Gujarati and that gives me a strong Gujarat connect. I enjoy Gujarati food, especially Gujarati kadhi. My in-laws make sure it isn't too sweet.”

With time, their friendship grew which later turned into love. And if you think that Karan might have planned a proposal for his long-time girlfriend, then no! There was no planned proposal, rather it was a spontaneous one, to which Devika happily said yes!
Talking about his proposal, Karan said:
“It just happened! We'd been dating for almost 10 years and it was bound to happen sooner or later. We thought of a wedding in Goa but it would be tough to accommodate the date of our families there. Then on the eve of Valentine's Day that year, I was talking to an old friend who suggested I should just pop the question to Devika. I did just that and she said a yes!”
After that there was no holding back, the couple decided to take vows immediately which did shock both the families, but nevertheless they were super-excited with the nuptial. Their temple wedding was a hush-hush affair with a few relatives in attendance, but they did celebrate their new phase with a grand family dinner in a hotel!

Karan recalling about their sudden marriage decision said:
“Since we both stay pretty close to each other in Delhi, it was only a few close relatives that were present at the wedding. We celebrated our union by having a lavish family dinner at a five star hotel in the night. It was all so quick that neither of us even had the time to think. Our parents were shocked at our impulsiveness but happy nonetheless.”
However, the news of Karan and Devika’s impromptu marriage in 2009 did shock everyone, especially his female fans. Apparently, many people did not know about his ladylove, Devika, but Karan denied this fact saying that he never tried to hide his relationship. Talking further about the same, Karan said:
“Devika would always be by my side at public events and award functions — I never found the need to hide our relationship, so the question about my female fan following being shocked at my marriage doesn't arise.”
Life after marriage changes for many but when asked about the same from Karan post his marriage, the actor said he is in one happy space right now. He said:
“Living together is like a honeymoon. We've stopped fighting as much! It feels like a live-in relationship except that we've got the approval of our parents. We've both become more responsible, we share our interests with each other and, of course, spend as much time as we can together. I'm happy to have Devika in my life. I used to tell her that she was the lucky one but now I consider myself to be the luckiest guy in the world.”
