After her dreamy proposal in Bali in May 2023, the duo celebrated their union with a lavish engagement bash on August 3, 2023. Their ceremony was a glamorous celebration and was attended by the who’s who of the film industry. Moreover, it was the newly-engaged couple, Aaliyah and Shane’s mushy presence that won hearts. With all the pictures and videos of the ceremony making rounds on the social media, the couple has been receiving a lot of love and appreciation from everyone. However, it seems a certain section of netizens are left unimpressed with Aaliyah’s outfits.
Recently, a Reddit user shared pictures of Aaliyah and Shane on the discussion portal and claimed that the guests at the duo’s engagement dressed better than Aaliyah herself. The post, which had the title, ‘I feel everyone dressed better than Aaliyah herself in the engagement party’ emphasised how Aaliyah’s choice of lehenga was bland and totally last year. Moreover, it also added that in comparison to any other member attending the party, she looked misfit and off the mark.

As soon as the post was shared, other netizens also started to pool in their views on the same, and somewhat agreed that something was surely amiss with Aaliyah’s outfit. They penned a host of criticising opinions, that ranged from Aaliyah getting engaged at the age of 22 to her weird sense of fashion at her own engagement party. A user wrote, "She always dresses weirdly. Her GRWMs are so bad". While another netizen commented, "Yaaa like she looked under confident, i mean i know she already deals with anxiety so maybe it's that". Yet another comment could be read as, "The lehenga was lovely and engagement appropriate. She just couldn't carry it off as usual".
Speaking about Aaliyah Kashyap’s choice of outfit for her special day, the star kid opted for a fabulous piece from the shelves of eminent designer, Anita Dongre. Her white-hued raw silk made lehenga featured multi-coloured floral embroidery along with detailed sequin work. The custom-made outfit also included a scalloped hemline and geometric border. Aaliyah teamed it with a matching round-neck blouse and a sheer dupatta. According to the official site of the designer, Aaliyah’s lehenga is priced at Rs. 3.30 lakhs.

It was on May 20, 2023, that Aaliyah dropped the first magical glimpses of her proposal from her then-beau, Shane Gregoire. In a bunch of pictures that the star daughter shared, she could be seen flaunting a huge diamond ring on her finger. In another picture, the duo could be seen sealing their happy moment with a passionate lip lock.
