More than three decades ago, in 1989, veteran actors of the film industry, Sridevi, Sunny Deol, Rajinikanth and Anupam Kher came together for an iconic film, ChaalBaaz, which even today, holds a special place in the hearts of the audience. Be it Sridevi carrying the double role of boisterous and vibrant, Manju and the coy and repressed, Anju flawlessly, Anupam making us hate him as he played the cruel uncle physically and mentally torturing his niece, Rajinikanth giving everyone their life’s motto – ‘Aaj Sunday hai, aaj Sunday hai, aaj daru peene ka din hai’ or Shakti Kapoor’s ‘Balma’ act, the film had proved to be a pivotal contribution to the cinema and was solid entertainment for the audience. But as we enjoyed watching the film, again and again, Sridevi’s daughter, Janhvi Kapoor had a hard time and was left traumatised as a kid. (Also Read: On Janhvi Kapoor's Birthday, Her Sister, Khushi Kapoor Shares Her Rare Dance Video From Childhood)

Three films old, Janhvi Kapoor is not just the heartbeat of the Kapoor family but also the Dhadak of the nation. Daughter of late Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, Janhvi was not new to the limelight and fame when she made her debut in the film industry. But with her promising performances in the films like Dhadak, Ghost Stories, and Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Janhvi is surely an artist who has proved her mettle as an actor. Though Janhvi is riding high on professional front, not a day goes by when she doesn’t miss her late mother and inspiration, Sridevi. It was on February 24, 2018, when Sridevi had left for the heavenly abode and to mark her third death anniversary in 2021, Janhvi had posted a handwritten note written by her mother to her. Janhvi had simply captioned the note, "I love you my labbu. You are the best baby in the world" as "Miss u."

In a promotional interaction with the Hindustan Times, Janhvi Kapoor described her characters, Afza and Roohi as ‘very animalistic, inhumane energy’ and ‘vulnerable, fragile and docile’ respectively. Back in 1989, Sridevi had pulled off such diverse roles in her film, ChaalBaaz. When Janhvi was asked if she used them as a reference point, she retorted, “There was no real reference point for Afza’s character, and I was trying to be conscious about not mimicking anyone. I don’t think anyone in the world can match up to the level of work that my mother has put out. I would honestly always have a hard time watching ChaalBaaz because they were very mean to her in the film. As a kid, I was very traumatised every time I tried to watch that film.”

Janhvi’s look in the song, Panghat had reminded her fans of Sridevi. Janhvi’s breathtakingly gorgeous look in a black outfit with detailed embellishments which she had paired with black beaded jewellery, wavy tresses and smokey eyes was compared to Sridevi’s picture in a similar look by one of her fans. It was a few months after Sridevi’s demise, her elder daughter, Janhvi Kapoor had made her debut in Bollywood and since then, she has been working round the clock. With the pandemic lockdown, everyone’s life had slowed down and they got a chance to spend some quality time with their families. Janhvi too, had made the most of this time and had spent her quarantine with her father, Boney Kapoor and sister, Khushi Kapoor. The lockdown had made her realise that people of the house depend on her a lot more since her mom, Sridevi’s demise.

In an interview with the Filmfare, Janhvi Kapoor had opened up on becoming the lady of the house post her mother, Sridevi’s demise and had stated, “I don’t think I have become the lady of the house because I'm very childish. But during this lockdown, I'm understanding how much people at home depend on me a lot more. Because I haven't been home this much for the past 2 years. Now all of sudden I'm keeping track of what Papa is eating, or why Khushi is sleeping so long, and how they are going to get vegetables and if they are sanitizing everything properly or what the protocols are. I was thinking If I wasn't here I don't know what would have been happening. I think they would have managed. I think the responsibility has just dawned on me that they do depend on me a bit.” (Also Read: Janhvi Kapoor Talks To Kareena Kapoor Khan About Struggles That Her Parents' Generation Never Faced)
