Aamir Khan has captivated audiences with his power-packed performances on celluloid for nearly four decades. Over the years, he has worked in some of the blockbuster and much-loved films in Bollywood, including Raja Hindustani, Taare Zameen Par, 3 Idiots, PK, Dangal, and many more. Apart from being a phenomenal actor, Aamir also wears the hats of being a filmmaker and a television personality. Being one of the superstars in Indian showbiz, Aamir’s personal life has also been in the limelight. He got married twice, first in 1986, to Reena Dutta, and then to Kiran Rao in 2005. He has three children, Junaid, Ira and Azad.
Aamir, who has never appeared on talk shows, Bollywood parties, or award shows, recently appeared on Kapil Sharma’s Netflix show, The Great Indian Kapil Show. As the episode began, Kapil continued making people laugh with his one-liners, and then Aamir confessed that the last two years of his life were pretty challenging. However, he used to watch Kapil’s show, and it helped him during the tough phase of his life.

Further into the episode, Kapil asked Aamir if he noticed and observed people as an actor. To this, the superstar shared an unheard anecdote where his former wife, Reena was in labour during their son, Junaid’s birth. Aamir recalled that he had learnt a few breathing exercises to help Reena calm down during her labour. However, her pain was so terrible that she ended up slapping and biting Aamir. In his words:
“Kahan kahan main notice karta hun aapko ye idea aayega. Junaid jo mera bada ladka hai, uski paidaish ka din tha. Reena ji labour mein thi, hum hospital mein the, Junaid paida hone wala tha. And like a good husband maine practice kiya tha unke saath breathing exercise ka. Khair jab labour zyada intense ho gaya toh maine kosish ki main hu, hu, phu, phu karun, toh mujhe ek thappad mila mujhe ki, ‘bakwas bandh karo’, bohot pain ho raha tha Reena ji ko, mera haath kaat liya.”

Moreover, Aamir shared what he observed about human emotions when his former wife was in labour. He mentioned that when Reena was undergoing excruciating pain during her labour, he noticed that her face was not contorting; instead, she was in utter disbelief and surprise as she was in denial that a person could go through such a great level of pain. In his words:
“Mera dhyaan unpe aaya ki kya ho raha hai yahan pe. Kapil maine ek cheez notice ki aadmi ko jab bohot zyada pain hota hai kyunki Reena ji ko bohot zyada pain ho raha tha, kisi bhi mahila ko bohot zyada pain hota hai childbirth main, even maine plan nahi kiya, ho raha hai mere saamne. Maine Reena ka face dekha aur jab unko pain aata tha na labour ka toh normally hum sochte hai ki bohot zyada pain hoga toh aadmi ka face contort hoga. Aise nahi hota hai, toh jab bohot zyada pain aata hai toh kya expression hona chahiye, it’s surprise, it is disbelief, yakeen nahi aa raha hai aadmi ko.”
Aamir continued this anecdote by saying that when Junaid and Reena came back home, he revealed his observation to her. However, Aamir laughed and said that his former wife got furious. She had said that while she was going through that excruciating pain, he was busy noting down her expressions. After this revelation, everyone in the audience stand started laughing. Moreover, Aamir said that while he was doing Satyamev Jayate, he got the opportunity to meet people from all over the country, which helped him to learn about characters.
